So pretty much, I require some electronics parts, I’m ordering them from China.
I’ve arranged two separate shipments, they are both small cheap items, less than 1000NT worth, should be less than a KG.
One is through Ali express, the other is an independent website selling laptop parts.
Both are going through SF Express shipping. The Aliexpress guy gave me a tracking number, to which I received the sms notification that I need to install the EZway app and authenticate my details. I did that with no issue at all, using my ARC, my name and phone number are now authorized. I thought all was good but then after a few days he told me the shipment got cancelled because SF could not get customs clearance. It took me a few days but I decided to contact SF directly on the matter, I think they may have been able to help me, but now the tracking number is no longer valid because the order has been cancelled… I guess I took too long (was just a few days).
The laptop part seller instead asked me to download the SF App and “enter my details”.
I’ve downloaded the SF app… but I can’t see anywhere to enter details at all… there is a bunch of stuff about declarations, and I think they are mostly China related documents, etc. I can see somewhere in here to upload a “Taiwan ID”, I don’t know if that’s an ARC? if its even the right area? or if uploading my ARC photo to a Chinese service is a good idea in general.
I’ve asked the seller to elaborate on how to enter my details, but they talk as if they have never actually used the app before either. They can’t give me a tracking number as it seems they are using some online service to setup the shipment and can’t even lodge the package as my ID number is not accepted at their end. I have no idea if EZway has anything to do with any of this.
So, I’ve been at if a few days now… back and fourth with these sellers and it seems just SF is refusing to move anything of mine. Any help is greatly appreciated, I did already see there is a few posts already regarding EZway but that seems to mostly be in regards to people having trouble getting their name authenticated. again, I had no problem with this, it was done in less than an hour.
After installing and logging in to the EZ Way app, did you receive an Autorization Notification through the app regarding your shipment along with the tracking number? After that, you must enter the details of this particular shipment (customs value etc) and then your package will be cleared to enter Taiwan.
I use the SF express app on a daily basis but it is for shipping parts to China & Hong Kong. I don’t think the SF app has anything to do with someone receiving a shipment. The EZ Way app is the “culprit” here.
Thanks for your help.
EZapp hasn’t received anything of the sort… just sitting there empty.
It’s as if the SF company itself is completely blind to my Authorization, or at least the senders trying to arrange the package are screwing up the information.
I have been talking to the Taiwan SF customer service and they can at least confirm that entering my mobile number brings up my authorization. They also believe that the senders have been shipping using incorrect details. Will have to wait till tomorrow however as I believe they’ve stopped replying to my emails its now that time of the afternoon.
I do appreciate your insight though. Glad I didn’t get so desperate that I started sending out my personal details to god knows who.
I had a similar problem with a Chinese company insisting that SF Express could only send stuff to Taiwanese citizens (that is, people with an ID number in the ‘citizen’ format). They told me this is a “new rule”. Whose rule was never adequately explained; I was simply told I had to pick another courier, and that was that.
This happened to me and my seller in China figured it out. After they figured it out with SF Express I received it here in Taipei in a few days. Here was the response:
Dear customer, pls no worry any more, just now the SF Express person helped us and finally realized what happened to this problem, just because I wrote your English name, it has to be the Chinese name, haha, now everything is okay, the delivery person has taken away your package, you will receive it soon in these few days,
I’m also having trouble with SF Express and EZ Way. The site I’ve ordered from says they are unable to send a package to me unless I have a Chinese name, because that’s all EZ Way allows. Feels pretty discriminatory to me and surely can’t be correct?
Just to follow up, I was never able to really solve the issue.
The first order, which as far as I know the guy was submitting in person at the post office, eventually just went through the second time he tried. Though I never received any kind of notification on the EZY app, or anything suggesting they used my number and ID. It just simply turned up at my door one day.
The second item, however, failed multiple times to be submitted… and we eventually gave up and they refunded me.
So I guess my advice is to just try again… other than that. I still never got to use EZY app, or required it for that matter.
