Trump accounts, good idea for Taiwan too? (Fund for all babies)

Might be good idea for Taiwan, help low income kids? Seems all newborns in the USA get this fund, can use stock gains and can take it out when are 18, returns should be good.

Personally I don’t like this kind of socialism scams, why not just give a tax cut to the parents to do their investments on their own? Trust the parents

It helps people with less financial smarts who tend be poor. Richer people benefit less I guess. It helps poor, have at least some savings when they become an adult. Taiwan lower class is falling behind, this could help.

They’re eligible, but it’s not automatic. I like it. Not enough people are invested in the economy.

Generally speaking parents need money now not later. If they don’t have enough money now they won’t even have the kid in the first place for many folks. Taiwan has the lowest birth rate in the whole world.

Government already proposed something similar but it was small money and taking away from immediate needs. 2500 NTD a month socked away …and 2500 NTD cash now…not much sense in that.

As @Brianjones said. Low income parents need cash now for food, rent and expenses. Not some possible cash for their kids 18 years later

In Taiwan they get ,$100,000 (,€3,000,00)or more depending on where they live

Taiwanese parents rich or poor always seem
To find money for their kid’s education — if such a program existed here, I think they’d be able to find $300 NT per month to feed their kid’s retirement account.

This kind of account is better than the ridiculous insurance scams families usually buy into. IMO.

I like it, but it’s interesting it’s for qualified expenses, like education or a first home purchase.

I wonder what other restrictions there are.

Those are for expenses when the kids are born, with high expenses early so good in my view that they provide cash for new parents

Also this is an I going discussion about NT$ 5k per month per kid. But also part of this is planned to be given when the kids are adults, so not great in my view

The government to keep hold of the money, like the US or KMT/DPP proposal is wrong in my view. As it have the governments to keep hold of the cash and maybe it will go up, or maybe fee’s will eat it all. Low income parents needs cash early, much more important than a possible cash out when the kids is 18

Might want to adjust those numbers

I wish these subsidies existed years ago, good for new parents anyway.

Is it possible for an American living abroad to apply for? We don’t get some the child tax credits if our residence is not in the US.
