Tsai Ming-liang (Cai Mingliang / 蔡明亮) – the director of movies such as The River (1997), Hole (1998), What Time Is It There? (2001), and The Wayward Cloud (2005) – has a new film: I Don’t Want to Sleep Alone (Hei Yanquan / 黑眼圈).
This was filmed in Malaysia, which initially banned the movie and has now called for cuts.
The reviews I’ve seen generally agree that in this movie Tsai has got his groove back, after having lost it in The Wayward Cloud.
