TW comedy 俗女養成記明 promoted in English. So where can I find The subtitled version?

俗女養成記明 is a comedy promoted in english. It actually looks good but I would like to find the subtitled version to buy or download. I’m interested in catching season 1 first.

And which one of our community members here did the voiceover? His slightly resigned to fate sarcasm seems very Forumosan…
Actually, he should be a reoccurring character as a narrator in future seasons, perhaps revealing himself as a poor foreign “slob”*, like the rest of us, married into the family.

  • Slob as in everyday working guy (common person)

The first season was actually pretty good.

I think it’s on netflix

Does Netflix offer a free trial? How do the subtitles work?

Can’t find it. Only this.

I guess Netflix only has the first season then…

I wonder who the narrator is.
He should be incorporated into the show if it lasts to a third season.

Any non Netflix options. I’m not keen on supporting Netflix.
I wonder if the DVD has English subtitles.
5 DVDs, 1000 Nt, books.com.tw but I cannot find dvd and subtitle data.
I will check the local rental soon, if I can find one.

Based on the Taipei Public Library catalog listing, it may only have Chinese subs:

I found the Chinese SRTs (text with time code used in popular media player).
Like, why?
Anyway, maybe I could run it through Google Translate and see how it goes.

I’d rather own the files or disks than stream.
I’ll probably buy the DVDs to stay legal then make a back up with subtitles.

Another discussion…
A lot of great classics are unsubtitled…

It’s beyond my ability. Anyone interested in forming a fansub group?
How much would it cost to license some movies to make it legal?

How about just convincing the current rights holders to issue discs with subtitles…
My bucket list to watch is…

And I still have yet to see any subtitled movie by 許不了

don’t watch this crap, buddy. but if you have to, i will happily translate the subs for you, at the market rate.

Season 2 of the show just became available today.
I just found out that the narrator in

this trailer who pronounced the Chinese very badly is actually a Taiwanese actor. His name is 陳家逵 Chen Jiakui.
He’s an actor and a radio host and he speaks Mandarin, Taiwanese, Haka, English and French.

He has a role in the show and really is English voice does not match his face.

I’m sold, I will get Netflix for this series.

This series is available on catch play which is on The mod box.
Does anyone know if mod offers subtitles?

Beautiful Taigi theme song

He plays a gay man on the show in a relationship with the protagonist’s brother. This show is pretty progressive in that neither of them displays any of the tiring femboy gay character tropes.

I played the trailer to a local friend to see if he could guess where the narrator came from.
As you saw, I was convinced he came from the USA or Canada from the way he used his voice to show emotions.
My friend immediately he was not American. He said Singapore or possibly Taiwanese.
What clues am I missing?
