My gf and I rescued two male kittens, got them cleaned up, fully vaccinated and need to find homes for them soon. Our landlord is not pet friendly, so time is of the essence. If you know anyone in the Taipei area who is looking for one or two affectionate male kittens please send them our way.
You may want to reconsider offering the kittens for free - this is something we have avoided since very early on, as it has become very apparent that the most committed homes are more than happy to reimburse you for your outlay, plus it avoids the problem of buncherstaking the animals (a very real concern here as much as anywhere else).
The good news is that cats are perfectly suited as pets in this environment, and we have never had a problem rehoming any of ours.
Looking forward to soon reading of your success in getting these beautiful animals adopted.
those kittens are so cute and so friendly! How could you give them up? I think you should stand up to your landlord and tell him/her that you are responsible people and will make sure that cats don’t damage the concrete walls and ceramic tile floors. I’ve been in Taiwan for a long time and have never had a problem with landlords and pets. In fact, I don’t think I have even had a landlord that visited more than once a year. If there is such a thing as an animal-unfriendly landlord in Taiwan, people should not give them the economic benefit of renting their houses.
Unfortunately, it’s quite standard practice by landlords, including in the US, to disallow pets. And “standing up” to someone like a landlord who holds all the cards can result in your butt being tossed onto the street.
I wouldn’t call it “standard practice” in the USA to not allow animals in rental units. Some landlords don’t like animals because of damage they may cause to carpets, screens, or plaster walls. Some landlords will use a rental company and they usuallly don’t allow pets in any of their properties. American homes and apartment buildings are different and more susceptible to damage from animals. In a concrete and ceramic tile apartment in Taiwan, there is really no justification for not allowing pets. Maybe some neighbors will complain if you have too many animals or they make too much noise, but landlords are usually not so close by. In any case, it’s easy, both in the USA and in Taiwan to avoid landlords that are not pet-friendly. I still say, keep that cats and get a new landlord! If anyone is in Taichung and has a landlord who is not pet-friendly, let me know and I will help you find a new place! My landlord is a realtor and she has about 5 dogs already; I’m sure we can help you find a pet-friendly apartment.
True, the cats wouldn’t be able to do much damage to the concrete and ceramic tiles, but your forgetting that a lot of apartments come furnished. Perhaps this is the case with the OP, and his landlord doesn’t want cats scratching the hell out of the furniture.
