In the Republican understanding of things, that’s good enough. That’s why they cannot be troubled to care about massive amounts of explosives disappearing on their watch.

It would be nice if, once in a while, the Bush administration would actually hold somebody accountable for what they do. It’s almost as if Rumsfeld and the others are trying to get severance benefits by screwing up massively on purpose. “How long can I keep doing this without getting fired?!?” he’s wondering.

So, let me get this straight, you two think that The Onion is a legitimate newspaper??

What exactly are you implying MaPoSquid? I suppose you think any newspaper that doesn’t trumpet the Bush Administration fascist propaganda is not “legitimate”? I bet that’s what you think. I bet that’s what you are trying to say here.

Well I have news for you: some of us depend on The Onion for its hard-hitting investigative journalism. Maybe if you actually read this newspaper, instead of just knee-jerk attacking its legitimacy, you would find that it happens to provide some amazing stories, stories that otherwise would only be available in the New York Times Review of Books or the Guardian (which are not always available).

Personally, I think The Onion is America’s finest news source.

The question is: do you take every reply as serious?

So, are you saying that mofangongren is a joker?

Liar!

Well, it is quite funny that The Onion was able to predict the Bush administration with complete accuracy even before it took office:

chak.org/pages/onion/bush_nightmare.html “Bush: ‘Our Long National Nightmare of Peace and Prosperity is Finally Over’”

'“My fellow Americans,” Bush said, “at long last, we have reached the end of the dark period in American history that will come to be known as the Clinton Era, eight long years characterized by unprecedented economic expansion, a sharp decrease in crime, and sustained peace overseas. The time has come to put all of that behind us.”

'Bush swore to do “everything in [his] power” to undo the damage wrought by Clinton’s two terms in office, including selling off the national parks to developers, going into massive debt to develop expensive and impractical weapons technologies, and passing sweeping budget cuts that drive the mentally ill out of hospitals and onto the street.

'During the 40-minute speech, Bush also promised to bring an end to the severe war drought that plagued the nation under Clinton, assuring citizens that the U.S. will engage in at least one Gulf War-level armed conflict in the next four years.

'“You better believe we’re going to mix it up with somebody at some point during my administration,” said Bush, who plans a 250 percent boost in military spending. “Unlike my predecessor, I am fully committed to putting soldiers in battle situations. Otherwise, what is the point of even having a military?”

'On the economic side, Bush vowed to bring back economic stagnationby implementing substantial tax cuts, which would lead to a recession, which would necessitate a tax hike, which would lead to a drop in consumer spending, which would lead to layoffs, which would deepen the recession even further.

Worth a laugh, you guys need to relax a little bit. The election is already over from many perspectives.

Have they already had to Bush victory party at Alleycat’s?

Hmm? The Bush victory party is next Wednesday, Nov. 3rd, starting around 7:30pm-ish. You’re on the servants list, Richard, you should know. Be sure to show up a little early so you can put your uniform on.

And this will get my name on the protected rolls, right?
