I used to fly UA until they started taking benefits away from Premier Silver members. That’s when I switched to DL. Now that CI is a SkyTeam member, I’ll stick with them, but I suppose this is still good news for travelers to/from Taiwan.
UA has flown direct on-and-off, but for the last few years only via Japan.
CX is a great airline, but it feels strange to go the opposite direction from my destination.
I really hate UA, especially after they changed their mileage upgrade program to miles + co-pay that makes the final cost almost as much as just buying the business class ticket in the first place, and taking away Economy Plus seating from Premier Silver members. But this could be good for Taiwan, and maybe even bring costs down for us.
Was going fly from TPE (they have two flights), instead used the flights from KIA with a stop in Japan. Did get a nice upgrade and nice meal out of Taiwan (KIA airport which they use EVA lounge)).
