Or his plan could have been a protracted conflict where he humiliatingly has to withdraw his troops from the main advance on Kiev to the Donbass and decimates his military in the process while tanking his economy. That might have been his initial plan.

Blair was brought up in the thread and it is still very relevant to the families hundreds of thousands butchered in Iraq, even with the use of phosphorous as a weapon, just like is being rained down on the Azov Nazi rats hiding in the sewers of Mariopol.
Maybe Vlad thought he could get away with his invasion of Ukraine after he saw what happened to Tony after his invasion of Iraq. Tony was knighted by the Queen, appointed Peace Envoy to the Middle East (cue laugh track), and amassed a fortune of $60,000,000 USD due to several lucrative consulting contracts from major corporations.
