Boris Johnson suggests Germany wanted war to be over quickly even if Ukraine had to ‘fold’ - and that France was ‘in denial’
The former prime minister has claimed other European nations took very different views on the war in Ukraine, with Germany allegedly preferring a quick Ukrainian defeat over a long conflict.
In comments that are likely to cause a stir among European leaders, Boris Johnson told CNN Portugal: "This thing was a huge shock… we could see the Russian battalion tactical groups amassing, but different countries had very different perspectives.
“The German view was at one stage that if it were going to happen, which would be a disaster, then it would be better for the whole thing to be over quickly, and for Ukraine to fold,” he said.
Mr Johnson said there were “all sorts of sound economic reasons” for this approach but that he “couldn’t support” it.
He also made comments on French President Emmanuel Macron, who had spearheaded Europe’s bid to deter Vladimir Putin through diplomatic talks.
“Be in no doubt that the French were in denial right up until the last moment,” Mr Johnson said.
The former prime minister, who was seen as a close ally of Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stressed that EU nations later rallied behind Kyiv.

Could be to keep them warm on the front as they will have no access to gas supplies when the upcoming shit hits the fan.
All I can say is it’s good that Winston Churchill didn’t adopt this line of reasoning.

The error ascribing blame to Russia was particularly damaging because of the danger involved given NATO’s commitment to respond to an attack on a member country.

Russia blowing up all of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure to terrorize the population into submission.
Could be an insight into what xi would do to Taiwan , blockade and terrorize. Literally just lobbing missiles into Ukraine to knock out power grids.

Ukraine has been one massive lesson that you don’t pussy foot around when America decides to make a proxy out of a country.
China will most likely go in strong and hard, and achieve what everyone expected Russia to do.

This would have been the best outcome for Ukraine and Europe, and even American interests as it’s looking now.
America needed to “bleed” Russia, because Russia was getting in the way of America’s interests in the middle East and Africa (stealing oil and regime changing, typical American stuff)
As it stands, not only is Ukraine been decimated and becoming a burden for Europe, the war has caused Russia to get its shit together and start sorting out all the rpant corruption and vodka fuled rockets.
While America is distracted, there are moves been made in the middle East, and Asia.
Unfortunately the cost is high in Russian and patriotic Ukrainian separatist lives, but thank god someone is fighting against American imperialism and the bloodthirsty, thieving West.
Russian imperialism isn’t less imperialism, just different *and worse IMO
