When I first arrived in Taiwan and discovered them I thought they were absurdly silly.

Then, when I discovered how slippery and hazardous marble is when wet (and many of the buildings that offer umbrella condoms have marble floors), I thought maybe they make sense.

Then, I came to believe they’re a huge waste of plastic and terrible for the environment. I doubt that even 10% of people re-use them, so 90% are used only to walk 50 meters or so within the building, performing a very limited service, before being discarded. (The practice was probably introduced by the Formosa Plastic company).

I rarely use them anymore, unless it’s raining really hard, my umbrella’s soaked, and there’s a security guard or receptionist present who might scowl at me for dripping on their floor. :idunno:

How about you?

I use them as real condoms. They’re a bit tight of course (and short), but they’re not bad.

I thought you meant it was some device that boys wore to stop their partner from getting wet. Like stonewashed jeans, only more technologically advanced.

in HK it’s worst! Because in all big shops they force you to use it before to get inside :fume:

It’s the horse I feel sorry for.

Why? The horse just stands there. It’s Stu who does all the work.

No one’s made me glove up here . . erh, well, except for those funny little bars hidden behind velvetty curtains.
