“The amendment would establish a three-stage review process to settle reconstruction disputes and allow local governments to demolish properties at the heart of controversial reconstruction proposals to expedite the renewal process.”
According to what I read here there is enough room left for greasing palms.
While there are a lot of overly greedy landlords, speeding the process might have its problems too.
Personally, our blocks have been saved by a few landlords, 2 or 3, holding out on the rest. the company gave up, which has upset most of the community. They gutted our local market anyways. Someone will buy a fancy place over a gutter which hopefully has been landfilled and wher ethe ghosts of chicken reside.
I would like more inspections on the conditions of the buildings, and take into account whether they are dangerous/crumbling/eye sores as factors to determine expedite demolition.
