Veitnam Dong money - anywhere at all to exchange?

Hi just arrived from Vietnam, have a load of it still. Walked for 4 hours from bank to bank in Taipei, ended it at Bank of Taiwan main branch, the largest I know of. Absolutely no place exchanges it. Anyone know of any last resort other than having to go back there?

Ask in Vietnam restaurants (there are some that have vietnamese inside). Or maybe some community vietnam thing (there should be some in stores that sell vietnamese stuff and phone cards). But I’m afraid thats more common for Thai’s.

I thought the Bank of Taiwan and the banks at the airports took everything. Why not advertise it for sale here? I’m sure someone will be going to Vietnam soon…?

Isn’t the dong pretty much worthless and inconvertible outside of Vietnam?

I would seek out Vietnamese people (like the above poster) or travelers who are heading to Vietnam.

I’ll swap it for TWD at 10% discount (in my favour) to the current exchange rate. (got to protect myself against currency movement).

I recall that I might have seen something somewhere along the lines that it is technically illegal to take dong in or take it out.
Something like that anyway.

It is not tradeable outside of Vietnam. What do you mean by “a lot” if it is worthwhile I can arrange a trade for you but it would need to be more than a couple of hundred dollars.

Nah, there’s Vietnamese taking their dongs in and out all over the shop in Saigon. Not to mention the Taiwanese businessmen. A right Sodom and Gomorrah it is over there.

Surely one can take out one’s (or indeed take in any old) dong in the privacy of one’s abode.
Or has it really come to this?

Dong is a cool name for a currency. I propose Taiwan ditches the boring old NTD, and uses the currency: SCHLONG
