Vietnam Visa

I just got this from my travel agent, are they serious? Do they really want to know how long I will stay in Hanoi or is my agent just being incompetent?

about your want to apply VIETNAM visa …they need to know when you will depature hanoi…and them decide what kind of visa for you …let me know it …

I realy just want to enter at Hanoi and leave overland to Cambodia a month later. I didn’t think it would be that complicated.

How did this go? Did everything work out?

I’m seriously considering taking a trip to Vietnam, so I’m very curious to know. I would probably be departing from the same arrival city (most likely Hanoi).

How long does it usually take to process a Vietnam visa through a Taiwanese travel agent?

And what airline are you flying to Hanoi?

Thanks.

They said a week but I’m still waiting. I think we got it sorted out though, on month visa, into Hanoi and out overland to Cambodia.

China Airlines (if it stays in the air long enough)

Tell them you’ll be in Hanoi for a month. You can extend your visa at a travel agent in Hanoi anyway if you need longer.

The reason for this may be that there is an entry and exit date on the visa and the visa is valid only between those dates.

I applied for my Vietnam visa directly at the Vietnamese office myself. No problem what so ever and I remember it being quite fast, a few days only. Why pay money for something you can do yourself?

Vietnam office where? In Taipei?

(BTW, welcome back)

That’s fine if you live in Taipei.

I caught a glimpse of the visa the other day and the only dates I saw on it were the period of validity (6 months from the date of issue) So they may well have done away with some of the previous formalities. I’ll talk to my travel agent this week and see what’s the guts of the matter.

Yeah in Taipei, guess didn’t think too much about that. Of course not everybody is living in Taipei…=)

Thanks aprimo, back since Friday.

OK here’s the guts. My visa cost NT$1600 for one month in Vietnam. It doesn’t specify exit or entry points but does specify dates. I have heard NT$1300 quoted for the visa but I don’t know what kind of visa that was. I may have paid a late fee for my travel agent initially stuffing up the dates. Three days into Vietnam and the fighting is intense…the street peddlers are merciless.
