Vilazodone and available psych medications

Hello. I have had a difficult time finding information about what medications are available and approved in Taiwan, but I found a thread on here about Lexapro.

I am moving to Taiwan soon from the US, and I have recently started taking Viibryd (vilazodone). Does anyone know if this is available in Taiwan? I have tried a lot of different medications and need to find a way to keep taking this one at least for a while.

From what I can see it is an approved drug here. Not sure how often it is prescribed. Patent expires next month.

I can ask my drug store if they have it.

That’s really helpful to know. Thanks!

Hello! I hope you are doing well. Could you please tell me if you were able to find Viibryd in Taiwan?

Hello! Unfortunately, no. At least at the time I went to the NTUH psychiatry department a little under two years ago, vilazodone was not available in Taiwan. I also found that there wasn’t really a good alternative. The doctor prescribed me vortioxetine instead, but I didn’t like it, and it made me nauseated and dizzy for several hours every time I took it for months. The psychiatrists also don’t really have time to work with you and are quick to write you a prescription without much discussion or explanation. This is something you have to get used to about the medical system here.
