I heard on the news that Japan is going to allow visa free entry for ROC citizens, I think it says you can enter indefinatly, can anyone shed some detail on this like how long can you stay and stuff like that? Do Americans have visa free entry rights for japan? (actually which countries can Americans enter without a visa?)

Yes, Americans can enter for up to 90 days as well (Japan). For a huge list I’d recommend you search on Google…I’m sure quite a few places except I know you need a visa for Bali (Indonesia).
