Yeah…I remember the other one being in the news where the student’s salary that was being taken away to “pay for school” was being pocketed by the recruiter and the university expected the students to pay the full cost of tuition. Wasn’t until media backlash and I think Ministry of Education stepped in a bit as well that the uni. gave the students 1 year free tuition, many of them from that group ended up going back to their home country if I remember correctly.

There is also the infamous case of the students from Sri Lanka, detailed by Commonwealth Magazine here:

Wonderful. Which shop?

Carrefour

My wife’s niece is taking classes preparing for Taiwan driver’s license test. Seems the govt has not asked students to take classes to prepare for the written portion of the test. The niece must attend 10 classes.

The niece attended one class and the other 9 she arranges other people to simply sign in at the classroom. The teacher from the company conducting the class knows everyone is doing this. The teacher only asks the “signers” to sit in the classroom for a few minutes…but most do not stay and simply sign and leave.

This is a traditional Taiwanese educational method.

Disgraceful. I guess they made ten sit down classes mandatory as a kickback to driving schools.

What you’ve described might help explain some of the approaches to “driving” I witness every day on the streets.

Well, the government allows drivers to take their driving tests at a private company facility…so just makes sense for them to not get involved in the written test preparation.

President Tsai is now recognized as Taiwan beauty!

The urinal at my local train station is waterless…no flushing. And always smells.

This probably belongs in culture and history. Ma had the same thing but with his Vice.

Sure but is it in plain view of the open doorway where passersby can look in and see your unit if so inclined?

So exactly how does it differ from a coffee can nailed to the wall??

Oh, you want one with her Vice?
Here you go! (Although not as cute as the first one)
