TBH, taxi drivers in China are stand up guys. They’ll help you in a situation, always willing to have a yarn.

Watching the video reminds me of the joke about someone reporting a hole in the pavement. Police are looking into it.
Police also warned people to be alert and not to approach the pavement. It’s a bit of a cyclepath.

After all the callous inhumane things I’ve witnessed here, I’m blown away that this taxi driver stopped and was sincere about helping. He is a true hero and I hope Chinese people are watching and learning from him. He didn’t lose a thing by stopping to help a fellow human in need. She is lucky he was there as we all know that most people would have just pretended they didn’t see anything and continued on their way.

And why not? I know there are aggressive a-holes among the group, but that’s true of other categories of drivers here too. There are plenty of decent taxi drivers, just like any profession. An uncle IL of mine here is one; great guy, friendly, wouldn’t hurt a fly (literally – he’s a vegetarian too), very generous, helpful fellow. One time a taxi driver here asked whether there was an elevator to help me home with my two huge, heavy suitcases up 5 floors, and when I told him no but I’d manage, he helped me carry them up, and refused a tip.
Anyway, kudos to the Chinese fellow for helping. I hope the girl is okay.

This is true, I’ve had a few great experiences with taxi drivers here myself, but more than often I see them displaying absolutely no care for life, human or otherwise. This is not just Taiwan, other Asian countries also seem to have a high proportion of pecker-heads driving taxis. All the more reason to celebrate what this guy did.
