TIA
The following establishments have shown the Super Bowl in years past. The Brass Monkey, The Tavern, Carnegies, Capones, JB’s, American Club, just to name some of the most common venues.
JB’s closed last year. American Club you need to be a member or brought in by a member. On Tap will and Patio Bar also probably show it as well. My company will be providing the NFL Total access source feed from around mid night prior to kick off as they have a really great show. That will go on after the 6 Nations Rugby and Premier League matches on the Sunday night leading into Monday for the Superbowl

Thx all for the info.

BTW, Niners won and Denver got Tebowed. Life is good :sunglasses:

GO NINERS!!!

To my knowledge, we’re the only one showing it with the American adverts. Details on the website…ontaptaipei.com/

I’ll be at Carnegie’s enjoying the Pats victory. Blue Jerseys, and especially New Jerseys, are not welcome!

New England represent baby!!

Is the Super Bowl broadcast on regular TV at all?

MOD and Dish HD have it. Thats regular TV for a lot of people here.

Thanks for your help, although I’m venturing to guess that very few people have satellite TV, whether it be the users of this site or in Taiwan in general, not “a lot” as you say, anyway…appreciate your response.

I’ll be at The Tavern.

Oh, “Yankees suck.”

Although Eli seems like a nice guy.

MOD is not “satellite” in the usual sense- it’s a TV top modem that allows you a bunch of stations -basic service NT$89- and others for a few bucks more. You get it from your local China Telecom branch; they can usually install it within a day.
You want to order ASN (Asia Sports Network, Channel 179); get the installer to show you how to order extra channels using the remote .
ASN is an additional NT$49 a month.
They have four NFL games a week plus most of the play-offs, including the Superbowl, and it’s in English but with their own commercials. One advantage is if you’re watching a repeat they blank out most of the ad breaks so you can watch an entire game in under 2 hours.

They also have NHL, NCAA football and basketball, UFC, plus some extreme games, all in English.

I got it last year to watch Super 12 rugby, then Australia TV lost the rights :raspberry:
You can see France’s Six Nation’s games, but only in French, of course.

MOD also has BBC, Fox News and al-Jazeera for those interested in some alternatives to CNN, SYFY Channel for people not interested in science fiction, and FOX Crime and Entertainment, among many others- mostly local, but some old movie channels

Update: NE has opted to wear their home blues this Sunday, so…what I meant was…White Jerseys and anybody who has ever owned an E-ZPass would be wise to just not set their alarms this Monday!

Super 12 Rugby? Thats a few years back. Aus Net had the Super 14 in 2010 but not after 2011 as Setanta Asia have the rights to all live Super Rugby along with the 6 nations curry cup NRL Tri Nations and other rugby. Also on satellite and on streaming although their streaming sucks.

UFC is no longer carried on ASN. It has gone to Fox Movies Premium and maybe also on FOX channel on MOD in the future.

As for the Superbowl I’ll be watching from NFL Total Access on ESPN HD from 11pm Sunday night till kickoff, from satellite.

Aha, wondered about that- that’s the problem with the way shows get dropped- they just disappear without the droppee mentioning it (good business policy, of course).

Speaking of which, I watched the Pro Bowl this week, reminding me that (American) football is the worst sport to have an All-Star game in.

 1. It involves more teamwork and specialisation than other sports

 2. It involves hitting, but nobody wants to risk getting hurt in a meaningless game.

This game was essentially sandlot touch football; recievers sliding like QBs to avoid hits, or stepping out of bounds when gently nudged by the defense; running backs crossing the goal line on short runs with both lines standing up and mildly jostling each other. Basically the QB saying “everybody go long and I’ll heave it downfield”.

Baseball- individual talent; not much co-ordination between players necessary, and when it is everyone knows what they’re supposed to do no matter who the guy plating the other position is.
Basketball- some physical play and teamwork involved, but mostly individual skills and can be played much less physically than your average NBA game. The whole point is the razzle-dazzle-I recall back when Michael Jordan was at his peak there was a raft of complaints about the opposing coach triple-teaming him during one All-Star game.

Hockey- without the cheap hits, goons and grabbing, the All-Star game is actually played better than a normal game.

I suppose the Barbarians would qualify for rugby, but somone who knows something about it would have to comment on whether there’s a difference in the style of play from either club or national teams…

ASN have their own web forum and Fox has a facebook page. People need to realize that when you sign a contract with a broadcaster they do not guarantee what content will be carried on what channels and that channels and content can change at anytime without prior notice. It’s on every broadcasters website. Many people complain that the NFL games ASN does carry are not the top games anyway.

I know some people complain that MOD Has Australia Network and they got it to watch rugby. When Australia Network stopped showing rugby they chuck a hissy fit and blame MOD. Same for another who wanted to watch Moto GP in HD and ESPN HD dropped that to show the F1. Complain to ESPN not MOD.

I have seen the UFC144 is listed on Fox Movies Premium 26 Feb 9am live but the Fox Channel Taiwan only lists schedule to mid February atm. So cannot confirm it will be on Fox Taiwan MOD yet until can see schedule till end of month.

Go to gamepass.nfl.com and you can get a super bowl only streaming online video pass for 9.99 USD
