Hi there, I’m looking for a simple room with a piano to teach voice students. Anyone know of places to rent for hourly rates? NYC was filled with these kinds of rehearsal spaces, but I don’t know where to start looking in Taipei. Thanks a lot!

Where are you? There is a great place in Taipei on Heping Dong Lu that has practice rooms and instruments on the cheap.

Most music schools rent out their practice rooms for a small fee (NT100 per hour). Just don’t go when the kids are having classes i.e. WEDNESDAY afternoons and Saturdays. Any Yamaha school (there are many) or the Melody place in Shilin (near xiaobei street). Maybe check the piano is in tune, the Taiwanese have a fairly loose definition of “in tune” and the heat makes pianos lose tuning rapidly.

Assume you have found something since this is an old post. Most, maybe all, neighborhood music schools have rooms with pianos for a very cheap hourly rate (can’t remember exactly but recall maybe 50-100/hr). I did this a few years ago until I bought an electric piano.
