I think black bamboo is really cool and I read somewhere that it was native to Taiwan, though wikipedia says Hunan province:(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phyllostachys_nigra). I was hoping to try growing it on my balcony (and probably having to hack away at it as it grows insanely tall). I’ve been around a lot of flower markets and the only “bamboo” anyone seems to sell is lucky bamboo (which isn’t actually bamboo at all). If anyone knows where to get black bamboo specifically (or I could settle for other varieties of bamboo too…) I’d greatly appreciate information!

Seems to be coming from Taichung. Can’t imagine much could go wrong.

Shipping is usually pretty easy. Chunghua/taichung/nantou is the nursery hub of taiwan surrounding Tienwei. You cna go there or taipeis flower market in.person.
