I’m looking for information on criminal rates of foreign residents and new immigrants in Taiwan.
I might be able to calculate them from the statistics on the sites of Police Department, NIA, and MOI, though, doesn’t anyone have a quick link to a site that is similar to this one?
Either of English or Chinese info is appreciated.
While searching, I found statistics on foreign blue collar workers. According to the pages, their crime rate is lower than taiwanese, and it seems to be lower even if limiting to escaped workers.
Good question. I would love to see the data stratified by nationality.
But here’s a question: how would they list those on a 90-day visa-free stamp that are visa running and living here FT. The MoI wouldn’t count that it its tally of foreign residents, as it only counts those with an ARC.
Yeap. The second report linked on that list is exactly what OP is looking for. Though I wish it was delivered as a pivot table or something instead of a stupid PDF. Because you’d want to do some weighting to make things proportional. If it was a pivot table I could easily load it into Tableau and provide you guyz with some fun insights (data, data on my wall who’s the most mischievous foreigner of them all).
Thanks. Yes, I looked the site too, but by my quick check of titles, I couldn’t find one specifically on new immigrants. Maybe I need to look into each report.
That one is almost the same with 外籍人士在臺犯罪概況. What I want to know is the criminal rates per capita, so I maybe need to calculate it with stat by NIA.
Should be easy enough to calculate, as NIA publishes a yearly foreigner count in excel format on their website. You should probably segment the results by type of foreigner too, and of you want to make things really interesting, crime severity.
