WCIF premade eggnog?

I could go for some eggnog. Some premade eggnog by the carton or gallon or whatever, so alls I gotsta to do is add some Jack Daniels.

Last year I checked every convenience store I passed for a week and tried a few Welcomes. No dice. I’m more determined this year.

Contact Alleycat, he served some at the last Forumosa HH and may let you in on his “secret” supplier.

Costco has it. :candycane:

Wow
Don’t waste your money. This is EASY stuff to make. Simply get a jug of milk and add about 1 egg for every 4 ounce glass. blend or stir or beat the hell out of it. Add some liguid corn sweetner to taste and some nutmeg. I found nutmeg at Breeze. I also like a little cinnamon. Pour and sprinkle a bit of nutmeg on top. Leave enough room in the glass for copious JD. Cheers mate.

Tom and Jerry
Seperate about 6 eggs. Beat or stir as much brown sugar into the yellows as you can. It should be VERY thick and almost impossible to stir but well mixed. Whip the egg whites until they are stiff (I know - the jokes - don’t need to bother) You can whip the eggs with a wire wisk - just be patient and have a cold drink while you work. It goes easier.
Then fold the sugar mixture and the whites together. Add nutmeg and cinnamon to taste. My mum likes allspice too. Laddle a couple big spoons into a BIG cup and pour in as much bourban as you choose. Have fun. I know I will.

oops, don’t forget to add the HOT WATER too.

…can it be Scotch or Irish? :unamused:

With raw eggs? Doesn’t matter. Salmonella isn’t picky about its booze.

I’ll have it with my Tiramisu then, to give those eggs a good chance …

Just remember to use actual whiskey. I tried it with Whisbih and it tasted awful. :loco:

I’m Jonesing for some good old fashioned, super fattening egg nog.

I’ve seen some recipes, but they all require raw eggs, and as any hippy (heathen or otherwise) in TW knows, eating the eggs around here would be inadvisable as the chickens are often pumped full of growth hormones and/or antibiotics which lend a huge NO NO to raw consumption.

Could anybody direct me as to where to get some? I’ve looked all over and can’t find that nor some yummy yummy Christmas Goldschlager (that sweet cinnamon schlager drink that has flakes of real gold in it.)

A big thanks for anyone who can help me.

Wild chickens “tuji” are not usually fed hormones and such. Far, far less than they are in any developed country, at least. Salmonella, though? I don’t know. I eat raw eggs here on occasion with hotpot and stuff and never got sick.
I’d get pretty sick if I allowed something as foetid as eggnog to pass my lips, though. Definitely an “Americans are weird” moment!

egg nog can be bought at Wellman’s in Tienmou (next to Subber on Chungshan section 6)

Costco has tons of eggnog in tetrapacks, dunno how much it is, but I’ve seen loads of them for the last few weeks.

Goldschlager doesn’t have a license to import to Taiwan so you won’t be finding any of that. I’ve asked at 6 or 7 liquor stores (including Drinks, Jason’s and City Super) and there are no cinnamon liqueurs or schnapps drinks that have licenses.

Not every chicken is pumped full of hormones. Get thee out of Wellcome and find one of those chicken coops in the lanes. The ones where you can watch a chicken you’ve purchased get decapitated before your eyes. Those chickens are definitely not pumped full of anything, and they often sell the eggs as well. The one near me sells chickens, eggs and some vegetables they grow on a patch of farmland the family owns outside of town.

They were serving it (egg nog) at The Diner. But I didn’t try any.

I’ve seen it. I’ve bought it in either Drinks, RTMart or Wellcome. Can’t remember what it was called. “Hot” or somesuch. Kind of red-coloured as I recall. Awful nasty stuff. Tasted like mouthwash or chewing gum. Very very strong. I still have most of it left. Listerine tastes just as good, has more alcohol and is much cheaper.

Where can I find eggnog in Taipei?

yes, i would very much like to know this!

Costco has had it in the past, not sure about this year.

If anyone is missing a taste of the holidays and was looking for eggnog this year, they have it at Costco in Neihu right now.

I think i might gain a few pounds this winter. I bought two. :s
