Where can I find this type of painting in Taipei or Kaohsiung?
There is a painter who sells this stuff -lovely traditional landscapes- unframed in our office. Most galleries carry them, mostly prints though. I’d check out the stores around Shida University, close to Jingshan Rd. Or between Hoping and Wenzhou Rd, almost by Daan park.
The area Icon mentions near Shida is good for originals. Antique shops carry older (not always antique, and not always terribly pricey) ones; check out the alleys on the east side Jianguo, starting at the Jade market and halfway up to RenAi (if I recall correctly). If you want very INexpensive prints of historically famous ones, the museum gift shops (e.g. the NPM) have nice ones at low prices, including some already mounted on scroll-type bars, and some flat and ready to take to a frame shop for mounting. The government’s handicraft mart also has paintings, although I don’t recall how many were traditional landscapes, having not been there in quite some time.
