Suicide Silence is an American deathcore band from Riverside, California, formed in 2002. They are widely regarded as one of the key acts that brought deathcore into the mainstream during the mid to late 2000s. To date, the band has released seven studio albums, three EPs, and numerous music videos, and in 2009 they received the Golden God Award for “Best New Talent” from Revolver magazine.
In their early years, Suicide Silence quickly gained attention through their extremely aggressive rhythms, dual-vocal approach combining deep, brutal death growls with high-pitched screams, and songwriting heavily influenced by death metal and metalcore. Their 2007 debut album, The Cleansing, entered the Billboard 200 upon release and became one of the most successful debut albums in Century Media’s history, firmly establishing Suicide Silence’s position in the global extreme metal scene.
The band’s second album, No Time to Bleed (2009), achieved both commercial success and critical recognition, charting even higher and leading to extensive touring, including appearances at major festivals such as Mayhem Festival and Warped Tour. During this period, their influence rapidly expanded across Europe, Australia, and Asia.
In 2012, founding vocalist Mitch Lucker tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident, marking the most difficult chapter in the band’s history. The following year, Suicide Silence entered a new era with the addition of Eddie Hermida (All Shall Perish) as vocalist, reaffirming their determination to move forward with the release of You Can’t Stop Me (2014), an album dedicated to carrying on Mitch’s spirit.
After periods of stylistic experimentation and controversy, Suicide Silence returned to a more direct and ferocious deathcore sound with Become the Hunter (2020) and Remember… You Must Die (2023), proving that they remain one of the most formidable and experienced forces in the genre.
Suicide Silence will perform in Taiwan on February 18, offering fans the chance to witness a pivotal band whose career spans over two decades and mirrors the rise, transformation, and endurance of deathcore itself.
