Weird Food in Taiwan

Pig’s spinal cord.

Probably bread. I find the bread you can buy in Welcome, 7-11, and 90% of the bakeries, weirder than any sea creature, offal, or edible insect. From a distance it looks like bread (unless it’s of the glossy variety - then it doesn’t look much like bread), but it smells weird. Like it’s been infused with some strange chemical margarine like substance. Texture wise, it feels less substantial… and the smell again, yeah it’s just wrong. It also seems to last twice as long as any bread I’ve had in Europe. Perhaps that weird smell is some kind of preservative? Anyway, I’ve pretty much stopped eating bread since I’ve been here.

Tmmyan… fermented raw pork, an Atayal specialty. Good with a side of stir-fried bees.

From my point of view, the weirdest food in Taiwan might be Chicken McNuggets.
