Anyone not a sheep deducts 2 points for storytelling. I like being polite as much as the next guy. But telling me stories to justify the trash I’m about to eat ALWAYS raises eyebrows. Thus, deducts points on the pre eating judgement. It’s just a reality. Don’t tell me how good it is, if ts good, you don’t need to waste your breath.
But, again, online reviews are stupid. Don’t pay attention. Someone gets a free bowl of rice for a pre discussed 5 star review isn’t my cup of tea. The consumer is just as guilty because they didn’t spend time reading proper opinions by actual people and just get excited by yellow stars like a crow gets excited by shiny plastic.
It’s easier to stick to forums, and discuss honestly. Ideally trying to make it organized for easy access. Hint hint, wink wink
but we all know that no one wants that liability risk in a county that is still going through freedom growth spurts. In time. In time. Takes a brave heart and hearty bank account to really be willing to be sued by morons for providing a public service openly.

The Taipei little Burma has gone to shit too. But this is a hualien discussion about western food, please try to stay in the right lane ![]()
Sadboys Club (傷心男孩俱樂部) introduced to me by @Explant. Tasty and healthy food. Tiny place with a nice atmosphere. Expect to pay around 450-550 nt per person.
With food like that, who would need to be sad? ![]()

I liked it too. It’s not cheap by Taiwan standards, not super expensive either. The forced drink thing might turn some off, I for kne just drink water usually so the wife had to drink 2 coffees and was high as f**k all day afterwards haha. Far from expensive by western standards. Pretty good food and a nice place to relax ![]()
I’m still bummed Jia curry has gone down hill. I want to go back to check, but I don’t want to ruin my fond memories. That has made me a sadboy ![]()
massive buns!
Yeah, the bacon cheeseburger was just average, but for around 250 nt, I wasn’t expecting anything more. The kids seemed to enjoy chicken satay skewers.
I saw a lot of orders for mini pizzas being prepared. My guess is those are a hot item for Uber delivery by locals in the area. I’m glad I steered clear of those, as my taste of pizza is very different from what most Taiwanese would consider good.
idk chicken satay pizza might slay
Three Koalas in the city center. Decent comfort food.
Jeezus man when I first read that I thought you were . . . eating koalas! ![]()

Summer Too Hot (夏太熱) pizza restaurant. Run by Terry from the US. It’s vegetarian pizza and he makes the pizzas mostly from scratch. I’ve been going here for years and it’s always been good.
Old Germany. We’ve been going here for years. I may have shared pics from this restaurant in this thread, but I want to share again. They are still good and leave us very satisfied every time. We got ribs, beef goulash, and pork chops. I recommend the ribs, beef goulash, and pork knuckle.
Wow that looks pretty good ![]()
Is the crepe place still closed down ?
Is the crepe place still closed down ?
Yeah, I think he went back to France. Oh La La, I believe it was.
Madina Indian Bistro. His brother has a place, as mentioned above, but we stick with the original location. I went with my son and we got the butter shrimp and the palak paneer. I found that a low level of spicy for the palak paneer is the way to go, otherwise the spiciness covers the spinach and cheese tastes.

The Lazy Dog smash burgers. My pictures are terrible but it was very good. George from the States knows what he’s doing. I’ll be going back.
“Hang Out” near the DunHwa University is very good. The wife and I order the ribs and hamburger…then share. I rarely eat hamburgers but quite good…
DunHwa University
National Dong Hwa University (國立東華大學)?
Don’t want to confuse the newbies!
