What are the most common questions you're asked everyday in Taiwan?

Good morning! I’ve been curious to compare my own experience to others for a while now so I’m posting this open question here.

What questions are you most often asked in your day-to-day life in Taiwan as a foreigner?

Of course, there’s the classics like “Where are you from?” and “Are you an English teacher?” but I wanted to know what else is actually commonly asked.

Thanks for any replies, cheers!

do you live here?

Yup

Have you eaten yet?

as a foreigner?

I’m a foreigner, and that’s what they ask me.

Are you friends with (insert American celebrity here)?

May I help you?

Wait…you’re a foreigner now?

No but I ask (clueless-looking) foreigners this when I am in a good mood.

Wait…you’re a foreigner now?

FIFY :slightly_smiling_face:

You haven’t traveled abroad recently?

Doesn’t matter, if you been abroad for a long time then they assume you must know celebrities. But that was in 2003. They don’t do this so much now.

Why not China?

Your kid speak Chinese?

“When are you going back home?”

Because Taiwanese will never, ever accept that we have made Taiwan our home. We’ll always be outsiders to them.

What time is it there?
