What are you watching (TV) 2019

Legally, no but it’s a fun series. I tried to give YouTube my money just to see it but, like you said, they weren’t interested though I believe the next season is free for all to view.

The first season is now on iTunes FYI.

I guess for the second season you can get a VPN, purchase it if you go overseas, or just wait until it also hits iTunes.

Forced to watch 2 episodes of Casa de Papel and it was so fucking stupid. What a waste of time.

What’s it about?

A Spanish bank robbery hit show on Netflix.

Edge of the World on Netflix.
Pretty decent B grade aliens attack earth / coming of age / Cast of ET meets the Goonies meets 2019. Just a fun film to watch. Reminded me a bit of Stranger Things with humor.

‘Stranger Things’ is one of those shows everyone seems to talk about, but I haven’t binged yet, electing to watch more obscure shows. Is it worth it? I get kind of tired of all the nostalgia porn, and I hope it actually has a good storyline that can stand on its own absent of shore-horned 80s references.

First season was pretty good, but I binged the whole thing right after release.

Not sure how I would have reacted in a post-hype viewing, though. For example, I tried to binge the second season but couldn’t even finish the first episode. The callouts to the 80s were annoying af. Never went back to see if there was more there, in S2.

Honestly, I think that S1 is a bit overrated.

Anybody else watching Black Sails, on Netflix?

I tried to watch it when it was appt tv on Starz, back in the States a few years ago. No matter how hard I tried to bite, no hook could be set.

Now, though, I can’t believe I didn’t bite. First season was great, second season also very good. The final two episodes of S2 were epic. Bit of a detour into Brokeback Poopdeck, but it actually advanced the story admirably. Good character development. The plot approaches GoT in its political machinations.

I love the actor who played Titus Pullo on the criminally underrated ‘Rome’, so I heard he was on ‘Black Sails’ and bought the first 3 seasons on iTunes years ago (they were on discount and this was before I discovered Netflix). I tried watching the first episode, but couldn’t get into it. It’s been sitting in my account unwatched for years. Maybe I’ll give it another shot.

Binged it when it first came out.
Awesome show.
Wish it had more episodes.
Sad when it came to an end.

Anyone watch the ‘Deadwood’ TV movie yet?

Not yet, but soon. I loved the series. I still think it’s one of the best television shows ever.

Sad the creator/show-runner has Alzheimer’s. Glad he’s getting all this done before it’s lost to him forever though.

I had no idea. What a gift for language Milch has. A shame.

Yeah, I read Simmons’ novel first, which is terrific.

Kinda like GoT, then, when AMC’s series turned out to be some weak tea. I just do not see Jared Harris as Crozier, although Harris is a fine actor. I like Hinds, too, but he’s not Simmons’ Franklin. Etc etc. A major thing in the novel was that the Tuunbaq tore out all the tongue of Lady Silence, and would meet her on the ice to put its mouth over hers, in order to use her vocal cords to sing. Which probably sounds weird, but was chilling af in Simmons’ telling. Even more chilling was that Crozier voluntarily submits to having his own tongue torn out by the Tuunbaq as well, long after he and Lady Silence leave the camps behind. That part was controversial with readers, but I absolutely loved it.

That said, it’s pretty good all by itself. I think that if you never read the novel then you don’t know what you missed, and so it’s still very good.

I watched it last night and yes one of the best TV shows ever for so many reasons.

It’s not TV it’s HBO

S1 E2. Wasn’t expecting that twist. Fairly impressed. Unless what I figured would happen is now going to happen, I guess so.

Triple twist! Definitely intrigued
