1 First Maoman made heaven & earth
2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the Spirit of Maoman was moving over the face of the waters.
3 And Maoman said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
4 And Maoman saw that the light was good; and Maoman separated the light from the darkness.
5 Maoman called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day.
6 And Maoman said, “Let there be a forumosa in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.”
7 And Maoman made the forumosa and separated the waters which were under the forumosa from the waters which were above the forumosa. And it was so.
8 And Maoman called the forumosa Heaven.

9 and then Maoman declared, “Let there be creatures that inhabit the waters and crawl among the message boards. Let there be trolls, and moderators and writers of stuff.” And there was, and he saw that it was good. At least some of it.

Except that it was Gus, not Maoman. Huh. Newbies. [/quote]
Before forumosa, my family and I used to sit in a circle at night and listen to the radio. Once a month, we’d go to the Saturday matinee at the bioscope. When my Dad got his Christmas bonus, we would go to the only restaurant in town and eat ice cream. How times have changed. Damn! The cows are mooing outside. They haven’t been milked for days! BRB!
Bollocks, Chaon and I used to just drink Whiskey and play as much chess as we could. Many of us have been here a couple of decades or so.
We got more information by getting off our sorry arses and did some proper research instead of relying on a website full of cranky laowai who like to make up fanciful
tales of having gangsters in the family and connections to the most currupt police judges and even senior ranking KMT politicians.

Sorry to be picky, but I think that what you refer to as “chess” is in fact what might be called “Australian chess.” You’re talking about using round pieces to jump over other pieces like Skippy the Kangaroo? Yep, thought so; Americans call the game checkers, and in Brit English it is known as draughts.
I used to simply browse the posts on connect_kaohsiung.com (now kaohsiung_living.com). Still do on occasion, though the current moderator, Colin, has a peculiar bias against schools which allows petty attacks on buxibans to be posted though he heavy handedly bans any question of these posters’ motives. That’s probably why I spend far more time here now even if it’s decidedly Taipei-centric.
Years ago, I simply drank and went out more. Old age has tempered me somewhat though. Now I simply stay home and drink.
