What happens to my TARC if I lose my job?

So I’ve only just started my NWOHR to full citizenship journey a couple days ago despite living and working in Taipei for around 8 months now.

The reason is because as a NWOHR I needed a work permit, and let’s just say procuring those documents from my home country took waaaay longer than it needed to.

So I’ve been just working here and exiting the country every 3 months since I only have my entry permit to go with. I have my home country’s passport, so I just go back there.

My problem is now -once I get my work permit, I’ll need to apply for the TARC. I’m applying it through reasons of employment. But lo and behold, my company might go under in March. My work permit is still processing.

What happens if my work permit is issued but my company goes under? What happens if my company goes under after I receive my TARC?

I tried to ask NIA but they have been extremely unhelpful, and give me different answers.

You may like to seek legal advice but similarly to the foreigners if the company goes under before your AF370 TARC is approved, there is probably very little that can be done except try to get a new company to sponsor you for a new work permit.

But if it happens after you get your TARC you may want to get advice if
臺灣地區無戶籍國民停留居留及定居許可辦法
- Art 18 allows you to

  1. extend your stay to look for a new job similar to the job seeking extension for your ARC.
  2. to use that time to meet your requirements to get on the HHR.
  3. apply to get on the HHR if you reach the required time before finding a new job or if you need a new job by that time to apply.
