I’ve got a problem with insect eggs turning up on my kitchen floor near the rubbish but not sure if rubbish related (small kitchen).
Basically the eggs look like little light brown seasame seeds but a bit more elonggated. That’s what I thought they were originally. Started getting them spread around the floor esp under the rubbish bin or moveable oven. Started about 2-3 months ago. They are not grouped in clusters like I think fly eggs would be but rather scattered about. I don’t have a fly problem, but do have a few roaches running around. However I’m wondering if these eggs are too small for roaches plus I get up to 100 over a period of a week if I don’t clean (missed them first couple of times so could see a weeks worth). A few are usually stuck to the wall but always pretty close to the ground. Last note on size - definately smaller than a grain of rice, which again leads me to belive they aren’t roach eggs. Could be wrong though?
Any ideas?
Sure they’re eggs and not roach turds?
Yes, sounds like roach eggs. I get those sometimes. Clean them all up carefully. And don’t let your garbage sit more than a couple days. Any food waste put in a bag in the freezer until ready to throw out.
Put out roach houses and get a cat.
They’re fruit fly eggs.
Fo’sho!
Fruit fly pupae, not eggs.
they will hatch into adult flies.
They are not roach eggs, which always always look like a small purse (and contain about a dozen babies). The size of the purse is the same dimension as a roach’s arse: big for American roaches and small for German roaches. .

Can you show a pic of the fruit fly pupae?
Last month I found something like the OP describes around my trash can, and found out it was roach feces. Does it look like this?
At least it doesn’t look like this…

Man, THAT would be a problem!
For the eggs on your kitchen, try to find a persistent insecticide. They come in spray, You use them, and it remains for a few days, so any insects coming or going through the “nuked” zone will perish. It’s the most effective kind of insecticide to deal with a small infestation like the one you described.
Awesome! Sort of good to know they’re not roach eggs as it would mean I’ve got several hundred roaches hiding away and coming out at night to do their thing. Yeah it’s just like the fruit fly pupae in the pics.
Thanks guys and gals. That’s a big help.
Well, chances are you do still have several hundred cockroaches, coming out at night and doing their stuff. But that’s a small infestation, and most houses actually have more, especially older buildings. You’d be amazed at where they can hide; inside your clocks and microwaves, the back of the fridge, the toilet roll holder in the bathroom. But that’s OK.
It’s when you get past several hundred into several thousand that problems arise…
Insect bombs are the word. taping closed your drains, door edges, windows seals, etc helps too, but insecticides are the good angel in insect control.
