This is a stupid question but I really don’t know what the term 3C actually means? Definitions? Is this a Taiwan only phenomenon? I did not find anything on Google.
Cameras
Computers
Camels?
Computers, Communication, Consumer electronics.
Crap …
Sorry … that’s 4C
It’s a Taiwan thing. Cameras, Computers, Cell phones.
In my work I usually translate it as “consumer electronics.”
It stands for “computer, communication and consumer electronics.”

Yeah, it’s Taiwan’s contribution to the realm of obscure abbreviations, just like LOHAS (“Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability”, i.e. expensive food that is supposed to be slightly less polluted).

It stands for cataracts, conjunctivitis, cack-eyed.
Din’t I just already done TOLE the fella?
There’s also “new 3C” which stands for “cloud computing, connectivity and client devices”.

Sherious question - what’s their customer service like?
We bought a laptop from them last Apr, so it’s just within the 1 year warranty. The HDD is close to failing, but hasn’t quite died yet.
Just wondering what they’ll be like when I take it in.
I’m wondering the same with regards to the warranty. My old netbook has a fried keyboard and I have 8 months left on the warranty. I keep planning on taking it in but I have barely used it in 1.5 years.
Their customer service was pretty poor when I bought a copy of Windows this winter. They assured me that it was in English but they only included a Chinese install disc. It turns out that I could still use the product key but gave me zero help getting an English install. Told me to call Microsoft Taiwan help. I ended up finding the answers online but it took some time.
Their customer service was pretty poor when I bought the laptop, TBH.
Kind of why I’m asking. I suspect they’re going to tell me to reinstall Windows.

There is actually no single company called “3C.” There are two big chain stores in Taiwan that I’m aware of that attach a “3C” onto their name:
There may be other smaller stores touting their “3C” credentials, but those are the only ones I can name.
Fair point DB. I’d always assumed both were kind of the same company.
Just checked the receipt and this is SunFar 順發3C.
Good, my overall experience is that SunFar is better. I have a theory that the obnoxious store background music played over and over gain in Tsann Kuen causes their employees to suffer from anxiety, depression and nervous breakdowns. The only chainstore I’ve heard with a worse soundtrack is Watson’s - it’s amazing that their employees don’t go on murderous rampages.
Well, they agreed the HDD was defective, and sent the PC back to Toshiba, who are going to replace the unit.
But it’s not a new drive, just a working drive, and that is now only under warranty for 30 days.

Is that normal? It seems to suck, but Toshiba’s Ts&Cs say it’s so:

Responding to my own post, I’ve found yet another member of the 3C cult:
