There’s really only one answer to this that isn’t too over-the-top, awkward or strange, and that’s snacks. Whether it’s wedding cookies, Tim Tams, miniature moon cakes, whatever… just bring a bunch of snacks to the office. No reason to overthink this one.
I don’t think they’d even notice. They usually grunt and nod. I think they’ve already forgotten my “kind gesture” 5 minutes later, and it’s back to getting screwed on my schedule.
Give them compliments when they deserve them. Listen to them when they talk to you. Help them when they need help. Say Hello or Good Morning when you arrive, say Good Bye when you leave. Don’t talk behind their backs. Do your job well, so that they don’t have to clean up your mess. Be kind.
Don’t be nice to coworkers are you crazy ?
What’s wrong with you are you new in town?
The nicest thing my coworkers have done over the last few years is give me their left-over moon cakes.
Bless their souls.
