A drug? A dream? I thought I knew, but I’m not sure any more. Serious question.
Given the many forms of love, I would say that generally love is when you put someone else before yourself. It could be giving up your lunchtime for nothing to help a struggling student, it could be holding a small umbrella up for your gf so that she doesn’t get wet whilst you do or it could be choosing to fight for something you believe in.
Hmmm. Donuts, Beer, cute girls…I love all of these.
Consumer electronics. Coffee. The smell of trees in the rain. The moment of feeling warmth on your skin as you swim in a tropical sea (before you realise it’s full of things that could eat you without thought or remorse). The sea could be real or metaphorical. My sister getting the ‘Cam’ book for me-unconditionally sweet.
Boys, boys. No insights, I’m an idiot.
Ad-libbing off of something Wittgenstein wrote, I would say that “I love you” is kind of like “I do”–not so much a report of how you feel, as a decision which you make by uttering the words.
I wish somebody would write a sappy love song, poem, or something that details the various chemical, biological (esp. socio-biology and game theory), cultural, and psychological aspects of “love,” whatever that is.
It’s always for love that people go crazy. There’s got to be a whole lot of love, because there are crazy people everywhere.
-Serge Fiori

People go crazy for lack of love.

People go crazy for lack of love.
Exactly. Without love that wouldn’t happen.
This one is for you Buttercup…
Laisse-moi voir on visage
Laisse-moi voir ton visage
Laisse-moi voir ton visage
Quand tu sais que j’me trompe, pis tu dis rien
Edit: I quoted the wrong one! I changed the quote above…
PS: I’m not making love advances to you Buttercup.
Just quoted the whole song. It’s about love, and the quote I posted is better understood in context.
Yes, you probably do and in that order as well. ![]()
I love my wife, my mother, my dog, and pie–but only two of them in the same way.
Lady, don’t hurt me. - Haddaway
Presumably your dog and pie, because you can eat both?
What is love?
When I find then I will know.

Love is nothing if not tolerance. Tolerance begins with an awareness of what a pain in the ass you are to the people who have committed to putting up with you on a daily basis.
I think that love also requires a certain degree of prioritization, e.g. when my wife and my children aren’t the first thing on my mind from morning to night, life gets out of balance in a hurry.

If someone’s completely obsessed with you and you don’t feel the same way, he’s a creep or a stalker.
If you’re completely obssessed with someone and he doesn’t feel the same way, it’s a tragedy, a tale of woe.
But if you’re both completely obsessed with each other, it’s supposedly love.
