I searched. I found some good info in the mold thread. I need to buy a mop. Right now I have a string mop, but I don’t have a proper bucket for it. No way to squeeze it. I used to have some of those sponge mops that have the roller that wrings the sponge out, but they always break. Taiwan people don’t know anything about mops.
I am a fan of the 3M ones. The yellow one, with the corresponding “squeezing bucket”. Then the blue or green “flat” mop -the ones that adhere to the bottom with velcro- because those really pick everything up.
First broom, then the vaccumm cleaner, then squeeze dissinfectant or organic cleaner -depending on conditions. Steamer. Mop with water, then mop all with the blue one. Ta-daaa.
Thanks. I’ll get one. Because I’m not getting on my knees.

They come with a foot-driven centrifuge so you can spin-dry your lettuce and stuff.

That looks complicated. Would you recommend it?
Someone gave me one of those spinning ones. They’re not complicated to use. The main disadvantage is that some mist can spray from the spinner; so I wouldn’t recommend spinning the water out of your mop when your mop bucket is next to a white wall. But in general I quite like it.

It makes mopping fun.
I should be using it right now.
It markets itself because anyone who buys one immediately recommends it to others.
What is the NASDAQ symbol?

I have a spinning mop as well- HUGE fan. I got one of the cheap knock-offs and my dirty little self didn’t use it for a month. Expected the spinning mechanism to rust and seize right up. Guess what? IT DIDN’T! Get a spinny mop dude, they’re the best.
As someone who has done more than his fair share of mopping over the years, I recommend the flat squeezy sponge ones that don’t use rollers, like in the picture. Ones sold in supermarkets here have sponge on the squeezing side too.

I much prefer these because they pick up more water than the roller ones and don’t break so easily. And I prefer them over string mops because you can almost dry the surface with the sponge. The trick is to rinse them in a bleach solution often, or make sure they get left in the open air or–even better–a bit of sun every now and again to kill the mould and therefore odour. If you use it regularly enough, though, with clean water and a bleach solution, it won’t go bad.
And to deodorise floors (and practically anything else) mix a couple of cups of oxygen bleach (hydrogen peroxide from a pharmacist or get the powder to mix yourself in the alternative laundry product section of bigger supermarkets). Add a teaspoon of dish soap or similar, two teaspoons of baking soda, and two teaspoons of lemon juice. It kills smells instantly, and is great for making mops and floors smell good and also get rid of pet smells–even cat pee in furniture.

I thought the same thing. And damn, you and I are already way cleaner than average.
Trade in your string mop for a spinner. You’re worth it. Then just vacuum and mop. Like Icon says, “Ta-daa!” :discodance:
Shoot I thought this was bout Hair styles??
Thank you guys, but I wish I was cleaner. This is just bare maintenance. I have an older dog with a weak bladder -no problem if I make it home early, but if I have to work late: catastrophe. Another dog likes to play with his food. The cats hurl furballs and other niceties, plus they like to break stuff up like cardboard and paper. The occassional food spill from yours truly. Overall dust. And the worst: linoleum floor. If it was ceramic, all this discussion would be moot. Even if I take out the offending matter, the linoleum absorbs the stuff and gets stained. It is already white from when I used Pine Sol on it. Now I only use organic cleaners.
I take care of pet accidents with vinegar and baking soda combo. No more smell and no reincidence… in the same spot.
Nor organization, that I need some help…
Hey Icon, you’re not by any chance getting that vinegar from Costco, are you? All I can find in the grocery stores here is rice vinegar- not sure if I can clean with that or not. sigh…
Oh and I think you may have been a bit surprised that I’m American. I didn’t realize how misleading my forumosa name is- sorry about that! Still love to meet up and do a costco run next weekend if possible!
I’ve got tile floors that are real shiny. They get sippery when wet and you can see the brush strokes from the mop, because I can’t get it dry enough. I think I’ll try one of those spongy things first.
I like the spin mop. I also like Stray Dog’s recipie for cleaning solution. Gonna have to give it a try.
This kind has a sliding sleeve attached to the top of the mop head. You pull it up and it draws the mop taut around the handle, then you twist the sleeve to wring the mop head. This way your hand stays clean, and you can wring it above any old bucket, sink or toilet. No special bucket is needed, and the thin fabric strips that make up the mop head dry more quickly than a thick sponge so they don’t mildew as easily.

If I had cat pee in my furniture I’d be mopping with a cat.
