What (movies) are you watching? (2007)
I just caught a very twisted film called Sublime.
wow

Jesus HF Christ. I’m only an hour in and was already taken…but now…“My leg? What about my leg?”

:noway:

sweeeet

“Departed” & “Smokin Aces”

Action & violence…with some good actors tossed in.

Stay away, far away from Wild Hogs. WTF are these actors thinking doing such a piece of shite!

No way man! I fit the target demographic perfectly. More’s the pity.

William H. Macy is one of the elite of Hollywood. Travolta is a bonafide box office bonanza. Martin Lawrence, while not my cup of tea, can certainly sell tickets. Yet they give the lead to a B-List comedian turned sitcom star??? And then they shoot what amounts to a third rate road movie script complete with Deus Ex Peter Fonda? I feel ashamed wasting forumosan-bytes even talking about this. I couldn’t delete it from my HD fast enough.

Those babes at the end of the movie inlining were HOT!

Last two I saw were

 • Reno 911 - Miami, very funny if you just want a movie you could laugh with.
 • Music & Lyric, yes, a total girly movie, but can you blame me?!

A MUST SEE:

Especially the speech at the end. Featuring a stellar cast from new stars such as Lohan and Kutcher to old masters such as Hopkins and Belafonte, this biopic docu-drama was wonderfully written and directed by none other than Emilio Estevez. Great film. Tragic story, but wonderfully crafted. Powerful stuff.

Another film I viddyed this week came from deeeeep within the time vault. All the way back to 1973. This won’t be any news to true cinephiles as they’ve no doubt known of this title for eons, but I just heard of it. Unbelievable artwork. An acid trip without the acid.

Truly a walk on the weird side.

Does Anybody know when Grindhouse comes here to Taiwan? A girl I am repulsed by likes me and I am thinking of taking her to that movie so I can scare her off!

Toe Save Where did you find Fantastic Planet? I remember seeing that movie when I was a little kid. As I remember it is a good movie to see with some… ahem… refreshments.

Saw ‘The Prestige’ I thought it was really well done, good actors, good plot, good use of fantasy elements, good setting. I really think its a movie you can show people over and over and not get tired of watching.

‘Casino Royal’ very good action - makes me think of a ‘serious’ Jackie Chan movie at times. I am not a big bond fan so this was a fresh perspective to me.

I’d tell ya, but then they’d have to ban me. :sunglasses:

I can probably get “Planet of the Sausages” (or whatever it is in English) for $NT1300 on region 2. Sorry, but i don’t set the exchange rates. It’s out of print in the USA.

Why would the movie be out of print in the US?
And Toe Save, I would think that you wouldn’t likely be banned for telling me how you got the movie. I would think you would more likely be banned for helping me get proper refreshments to watch this movie with. :rainbow:

anyone seen terry gilliam’s latest “tideland”? highly controversial for too many reasons to list here…its in the video shops now. IMHO well worth a watch but be prepared it’s extremely out there, back of beyond, twisted…think little house on the prairie meets psycho meets alice in wonderland…

I went to see a Japanese movie called Always. The story is about a group of people who live in a district in Tokyo.
The importance is about the time when the story happened, It set in 50s in Tokyo, and the life style at the time is similar to what Taiwanese had in 60s.
When I saw it, many childhood memories came back vividly. The first TV in my family, the paper airplane I played…

It is really hard to deny that Taiwanese culture somehow has been influenced by Japanese culture.

It must have been that occupation…

I should revise my sentence.

Japanese culture has been influencing on Taiwanese culture. It is still ongoing.

Sunday -
“Talladega Nights” - a hoot!
Today -
“A Night at the Museum” - another hoot!

JDS…no, I haven’t forgot. In the mail tomorrow.

Both films will sour in your mind over time though.

Ask yourself: Is night at the Museum as funny as Zoolander? “There it is, the Magnum.” Or is it as funny as Dodgeball? “You bet your sweet dick.” The monkey slapping was good, and the ‘do you want a battle of humour,’ but the rest I found rather pedestrian. Also the ‘theft’ sub-plot was very very poor.

Talladega nights: Well, it was funnier than Click. The baby Jesus dialogue was great, and Baron-Cohen was funny, but it wasn’t original enough. It lacked the weirdness of say, ‘Jay and Silent Bob strike back,’ or the originality of say ‘The big Lebowski,’ and the balls out laughter in ‘Leon Phelps: Ladies man’ or ‘Old School.’ (Im trying to pick Will Ferrell movies here!)

If you want a real laugh at a film go for Wedding Crashers. Its got Ben, Vince, and Will. The quotes in that one are classic, as is the plot. “Look at me, I’m dead! I’m an idiot!!”
