Most of Murakami’s older short story collections are good reads. He’s also an avid vinyl record collector, something like 20k slabs. He knows his music and his books are a great resource of blues, jazz and classical gems.

I saw Trick or Treat, a British film set in Blackpool, from 2019. On his 45th birthday, Greg has a visit from his brother, Dan. Dan has the dead body of a local gangster’s son in the boot of the car. Ensue lots of British gangster flick stuff. Women covered in sushi, car chases, menacing geezers, dark humour and paranoia. It definitely got my pulse going and my mind was racing as the events unfolded. The cast includes the wonderful Frances Barber (Bitch face from Friday Night Dinner) Dean Kelly (Shameless) and cameos from Kris Marshall, Hugo Spear and Jason Flemyng.
Coming in at a punchy 84 minutes, it’s definitely worth a watch.
I want to see that one…just not in a movie theater.

I was bored half the time but intrigued half way through and on. Based on true story. Long movie, same story from 3 different people involved in the story. Who wins the duel, what’s the true story, what happens at the end? who really knows?
Affleck is getting good press for this one. Generally Affleck is a good actor, and I enjoy his screen presence. He’s also a really shitty Batman (and to his credit he acknowledges that).
I don’t know, he’s won a lot of Razzies for a good actor. Did you see Gigli?
Yeah, but I wasn’t really watching him. 
He’s in some howlers, that’s undeniable. And I covered my ass by saying, ‘generally.’
The Razzies are pretty tongue in cheek and Affleck is a bit of a Hollywood punch bag because he’s messed up with Garner and Lopez (though they seem to have found each other again). However, I do like the lad and he undeniably has compelling screen presence.
OK, he was decent in Argo. But besides that? I can’t think of anything.
Chasing Amy, Hollywoodland, Gone girl, Smokin Aces, Gone Baby Gone. There’s plenty. He’s Hollywood A list, without doubt. The skeptic in me wonders if J-Lo is using him to keep herself relevant.
Hmm, no memorable performances there for me (although I never saw Hollywoodland). Could just be different tastes. I like his brother though.
