Yes, Western remakes are surprisingly good for some reason. I guess because they always make them grittier/more realistic and less idealized/ sanitized than how the time period was portrayed in the 50s and 60s.
Yes, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the remake as this one was as live action as it really really lacked the fun, bright colors and light hearted tone that animation brought to original.
I do like how they kept in the humor, unlike the Mulan live action…which was a diz-ah-stuh.
Tbh, I was thinking more of a remastered version for the 90s films, but I’m not even technical enough to be able to tell you if they did it, would it look any different.
The langoliers, watched it again last year, it feels very dated, I am sure a modern version of it would be a big success in 2021, because the plot is awesome.
Argh, how do I embed a YouTube video?! All I can see is the first frame. (Oh, never mind, when I post it does actually work - just not in the Preview pane.)
‘The Man with No Name’ trilogy with Eastwood is perfect though, as it’s an Italian spaghetti western and not one of those Hollywood code horse shit John Wayne shoot-the-Injuns films.
Fun fact time: ‘Once Upon a Time in the West’ was originally supposed to be a FOURTH ‘Man with no Name’ film, but Eastwood couldn’t be coaxed back… so they gave it to Charles Bronson and rewrote the character a little. Not sure how I feel about that.
