Yesterday, on the road, I saw a, most likely Taiwanese, older middle aged guy with a Waffen SS helmet.

I even found, that wearing such stuff is legal in Taiwan.

A great video on Operation Ichi-go. It seems to think it was an operation that was a tactical success but a strategical blunder. I tend to think it just meant Japan had the ability to conquer all coastal China and the flat plains neighboring it, they just didn’t do so because they thought it was unnecessary. If they had more time, I’m sure their plan was to leverage collaborators to eventually secure those regions. However, US naval and air superiority across the Pacific forced IJA to take on the task itself.
