Don’t know anything about a pet tiger, but for Changquan, 陳清河 was a famous master, and another branch introduced by late immigrants had a master named 黃連順.
He was walking it in the mountains of Xindian in about 1991 ha ha. It sounds too hard to believe, but then yes look at the 60s. The 70s also had them. In the 80s pet chimps we’re not that uncommon. Yes all cruel but interesting historical quirks. I stroked that tiger on his insistence as I was very young I stuufly agreed. .Well I’m still here. I heard he got cancer (The master) but it would be more interesting if his tiger ate him. Poetic justice.
The article says that in the late 90s Taiwan as a whole was more aware of animal rights, so they donated the tigers to the Taipei zoo. However, the tigers missed the family that raised them, and had separation anxiety, so the owner spent the first few months sleeping at the zoo, with his tigers. After the tigers got acclaimed, whenever his family visited the zoo, the tigers still remembered them, and would call out and approach them.
Unfortunately I’m worried that might have been its fate. I really hope not but considering his obsesssion with Chi energy …
Apart from that he had some rare knowledge and very good kicks. This was around the same time as Master little Peng and the 228 martial artists. (Then known as New Park)
I hope so in that he wouldn’t. . He carried on teaching for I think another 5 years or so which would be about 1995. I’m pretty sure someone else who knew him will eventually pop up. He had at least 10 foreign students and about 50 Taiwanese ones. In regards to the Tiger well I hope he took it to the zoo or something. It was spooky when training and have that beast just stare st me from that flimsy cage
