What's this bug?

Can anyone identify this bastard?

This one was about 5cm long, but we had a longer one the other day.

Could it possibly be an Asian Giant Hornet? (This picture from Wikipedia)

It’s the new thing in “Flying Candy Make Long Life And Strong For Man” from the mainland. Safe to eat. Just wash the pesticides off first.

could be a giant hornet, but the colour is a bit off… very similar shape though.

Either way, I bet it would really fucking hurt if it stung you.

Perhaps it’s Polistes tenebricosus

What’s the most venomous insect they got around here?

Blue truck drivers… its a kind of bug that hits you and your money starts to drain out of the injury and the little bug will just laugh at you…

I think you’re right Chris. plain old Paper Moth doesn’t sound nearly as nasty as Asian Giant Hornet though.

Oh damn, I feel sorry for it now.

I had one drinking out of my can of wood glue a couple of months ago. It stayed there for hours, getting slower and slower… and I was thinking “bastard hornet, ha ha ha!”
