What's your best thing?

Reading about fruitloop’s bike getting nicked, and how much it means to him, it got me thinking. What’s your best thing? As in, most irreplaceable.

Not counting living things.

At the moment, I guess mine is my Fender Stratocaster.

My photographs, which are part of my memories.

My annotated Chinese-English Dictionary, which contains years of margin notes.

Collectively, the little things I’ve made – my hand-carved name chops, glass art, my pottery, drawings, paintings, chain mail, and so on.

None of those are easily replaceable.

I didn’t realise you were also a knight

No, I’m not a Master of Arms (knight, called “Sir”). I have only an Award of Arms as Martin de Suero y Tresguerras (“Lord”, although I prefer “Don”).

Heart shaped locket with only pic of dead father in it.

Gotta go with my sadly scattered library, I guess. I’ve moved around a bit between small places and shed a lot of stuff along the way, but always take my favorite books, whatever the cost. It’s a good bookstore, or a good book and a healthy pour of 16 year old Lagavulin that makes me go, “Oooh.” :astonished: :lovestruck:

***Favorite thing I don’t have. An artsy ex- came up with this idea over coffee one day. Her idea for an art project was to capture a man’s life in boobs. Every pair of breasts that a man has intimate knowledge of would be painted in bright colours and pressed against a (long or short) white canvas, starting with ripe, motherly breasts, passing through young nibbly nubs, pert perfection, ripe glory, the swings of gravity, and on to granny prunes. Tall women, short women, large impressions and small… all dated and signed with a first name only (or possibly a pseudonym, or ‘X’, I suppose).

That’d be a treasure. sigh

This one favourite guitar pick, I never play gigs without it.
Funny, 'cos it’s kind of been missing since the last time we played at NYNY, I should try and find it…

My favorite thing right now is a Haruki Murakami book: Kafka on the shore. When finshed I’ll get a new favorite thing.

Might have some info about that… What’s it worth to ya?

Oh, that’s dead touching, Buttercup. Lump in me throat.

I wish I had a best thing, but I don’t think I do, really. Maybe my new bowler hat. Or me saxes. Or me uke. Or me bike. Or me cookery books. Or me Laguiole corkscrew. Something like that.

Actually, it’s probably my 8000 dollar Kenneth Cole wedges. Or my i-Pod.

I do not wanna have a best thing. I would hate loosing it. Imagine I would even not survive the loss of it. So, I only surround myself with plenty of second best things.

my set of pool cues,priceless

My money. It’s very dear to me. If I get more of it, I’ll be able to buy any darn favorite thing I want. Including a darned Fender strat, just like the one I didn’t get to buy when somebody sold it to irishtu. But I’m not bitter, oh, no.

I’m really liking the fact that I figured out how to download torrents and I now have every jazz and blues album that I lost (and more) when my entire CD collection was stolen 4 years ago. That is a good thing.

That makes two of us. We should gang together and beat him up one of these days.

At the moment it’s a new 50" Sony SXRD TV, but only if combined with the HD DVR.

I’m in! And I couldn’t care less about the guitar.

Don’t be hard on the little guy! He gave me my best thing: shelving. Granted, it was of poor quality, but he thought of me and that’s what counts.

I’ve changed my mind. My acoustic guitar is my bestest thing, as (seriosuly) it has more history with me, including the fact that I got it second hand for 40 quid 15 years ago, that it’s been through having its head snapped off by Iberia Airlines, and that I’ve played it in many different countries.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m still very fond of the Strat! :stuck_out_tongue:

And you lot were just all to slow, which is why I got it, plus I happen to know that Sandman can only play 2 chords. I can play THREE, so that makes me 50% better.

mmm… I could be wrong but me think some posts were deleted here… :eh:
Guess they were not the best thing
