There are plenty of dentists around - if you don’t like one, try another. I’ve never had them talking to me like you describe here, but there’s always been a language barrier.

I have visited 2 dentists since moving to Hsinchu both for the reason of cleaning and fluoride treatment. On both occasions they scraped around a bit for about 30 seconds and pronounced “all done!” My last experience was just last night as I am getting some old fillings removed. He seems competent enough for that service.

On the second part of my root canal, the dentist tells me that the nerve was extracted and that I don’t need a local. 40 minutes later, things get really painful. So much so that I was moaning very loud in the chair trying to get my head away from his hand inside my mouth.

The past couple times I went for a teeth cleaning, the whole process was barely 10 minutes each time. Heck, I almost take that long between flossing, Scope rinse and my electric tooth brush.
