What's your Favourite Song

…in the whole Fucking World?

“I Really Don’t Want to Know” by Jason and The Scorchers, hands down.

Fish Heads, by Barnes & Barnes.

Fish heads fish heads,
Roly poly fish heads,
Fish heads fish heads,
Eat them up yum

In the morning,
Laughing happy fish heads,
In the evening,
Floating in the soup,

Fish heads fish heads,
Roly poly fish heads,
Fish heads fish heads,
Eat them up yum

Ask a fish head,
Anything you want to,
They won’t answer,
They can’t talk

Fish heads fish heads,
Roly poly fish heads,
Fish heads fish heads,
Eat them up yum

I took a fish head,
Out to see a movie,
Didn’t have to pay
To get it in

Fish heads fish heads,
Roly poly fish heads,
Fish heads fish heads,
Eat them up yum

They cant play baseball,
They dont wear sweaters,
There not good dancers,
They dont play drums

Fish heads fish heads,
Roly poly fish heads,
Fish heads fish heads,
Eat them up yum

Roly poly fish heads are never seen
Drinking cappucino in Italian resturants,
With oriental women, yeah

Fish heads fish heads,
Roly poly fish heads,
Fish heads fish heads,
Eat them up yum

Fish heads fish heads,
Roly poly fish heads,
Fish heads fish heads,
Eat them up yum, (yum!)

Fish heads fish heads,
Roly poly fish heads,
Fish heads fish heads,
Eat them up yum

Fish heads fish heads,
Roly poly fish heads,
Fish heads fish heads,
Eat them up yum,

Yea…

:notworthy:

Tom Waits “Jersey Girl”

eyes of the world

but this may change…

Can we include instrumentals?

Damn, thats a toughie…

First one that came to mind was “Mercy Seat”, Nick Cave. Then I thought that it could be “Z.N.S.”, Neubaten.
But bloody hell, it might just have to be “With or Without You”, U2. Please don’t tell anybody. What has happened to me? I used to be hardcore!
Aaaargh!
No, seriously.
Don’t tell anybody.

Just one song? All-time fav? God that’s tough.
I’ll have to get back to you…

Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright.

I never really listen to lyrics very closely (in fact for a while I thought that song was about not worrying too much), so it might seem strange that a Dylan song is my favourite. But I just love that rising chord pattern in lines 5, 6, and 7 of each verse:
“When your rooster crows at the break of dawn
Look out your window and I’ll be gone
You’re the reason I’m trav’lin’ on”

then the harmonic resolution in the last line:
“Don’t think twice, it’s all right”

‘Kimberley’ by Patti Smith

 • Edit, a couple of hours later * Actually, it might be ‘Amsterdam’ by Jacques Brel. Or ‘Rock n Roll Suicide’. Or, ‘It’s all over now, baby blue’. ‘Sunshine Superman’, ‘LA Woman’, ‘Peaches En Regalia’ by Frank Zappa; I want this played at my funeral, ‘Upwards at 45 degrees’ by Julian Cope, ‘Goodnight Irene’ leadbelly, ‘Take This Longing’ by Len, ‘Bone Machine’ by the Pixies, ‘Suck’ by the Wedding Present, ‘Heart attack and Vine’, the Lydia Lunch version, ‘Loom of the Land’ Nick Cave, ‘Things behind the Sun’, Nick drake, ‘Purr’ by Sonic Youth, ‘Sugar Spun Sister’ by Stone roses, ‘Blister in the Sun’ Violent Femmes’and 5000000 others.

Or maybe… ‘The Phonebill song’ by Hole. ; )

I knew I’d never stick to one.

edit No, ‘Kimberly’ it is. Makes me think of my sister.

“Getting Better” by Bob Schneider
“Cap’n Kirk”, “The World Exploded into Love”, and “Mix It Up” also by Bob Schneider would be runners-up, but I can (and do) listen to “Getting Better” over and over without getting tired of it.

The bouncing beat and guitar feels like strutting down the street with a smile on your face, the sunshine on your back, and your head in the clouds. I dare anyone to listen to the song and not let their head bop to the rhythm and join in on the la-la-la’s.
Well I’m driving downtown in my big red Cadillac
sipping on ice wine, mixing it with Similac
feeling the amazing flow
of centuries in the afterglow

Set my stereo for nothing but the big beats
windows open sound of the city streets
blowing through the night like a tiger in a movie
feeling kind of groovy

And it’s la la la oh it’s getting better now (la la la)
can almost forget how(la la la) it’s a big beautiful day(la la la)
and nothing’s standing in my way (la la la)
Oh it’s getting better now (la la la)
can almost forget how (la la la)
bees they all sing her name (la la la)
and nothing’s gonna be the same

Holding in the world and the world is full of love
everything I feel is coming from above
feeling the amazing flow
of centuries in the afterglow

Widow weeds and crows and ice chests
stacked up to the tv - I don’t want to forget
the way I feel whenever she’s around
I’ve gotta sing it now I’ve gotta make a sound like

(la la la) Oh it’s getting better now (la la la)
can almost forget how (la la la)
it’s a big beautiful day (la la la)
and nothing’s standing in my way (la la la)
Oh its getting better now (la la la)
can almost forget how (la la la)
bees they all sing her name (la la la)
it never gonna be the same (la la la)

One hundred forty thousand years ago
when I was a wild-eyed buffalo
sky up above breathing by
Calamity Jane my oh my

Nothing matters explosions in the eastern plain
jackhammers wrapped up in the novacaine
my what a girl – can’t forget about
all the angels – they are singing with me now

(la la la) It’s getting better now (la la la)
can almost forget how (la la la)
ah it’s a big beautiful day (la la la)
and nothing’s standing in my way (la la la)
oh its so better now (la la la)
can almost forget how (la la la)
all the birds sing her name (la la la)
and nothing gonna be the same
Nice choice… But the thread ends here…

Tim Buckley. Sally go round the roses. Best, song, ever. Anyone who disagrees is deaf.

youtube.com/watch?v=JLUN6npnBOs

Sally go round the roses (4x)
Oh, Sally don’t you go down
Oh, darlin’, don’t you go down

Honey, the saddest thing in the whole wide world
Is to find your woman been with another girl
Sally, don’t you do down
Aw, darlin’, don’t you go down

I’m going downtown
Lord, I’m drinkin’ tonight
I’m goin downtown
Gonna drink myself blind
Goin’ downtown
Gonna be dancin’ tonight
Goin’ down town
Gonna kick 'em up high

It’s been a long time
Since I’ve had my way
It’s been a long time
Since I’ve had my way at all
I want to do that drunken belly rub
I want to sing that juke box melody
I want to stroll
Like we used to stroll
Way back home in Baltimore

Sally go round the roses (4x)
Sally, don’t you go down
Oh, darlin’ don’t you go down
The saddest thing in this whole wide world
Is to find your baby been with another girl

Sally, don’t you go down
Oh, mama, don’t you go down town

I’m singin’ Sally go round the roses…

I just edited. Youtube linkies are a good thing.

“Goodnight Irene” by Leadbelly. Maybe. Who knows?

Well, it’s my favorite ballad. That or “Sitting on the Dock of a Bay” by Otis Redding or “Waterloo Sunset” by the Kinks. No, scratch that, it’s “Walk Away Renee” by the Left Banke. No, it’s…oh, forget it.

Favorite rocker…probably “Shake Some Action” by the Flamin Groovies. Or “Surrender” by Cheap Trick. Something power-poppy, at least…no, wait a minute, something punky. “Blitzkreig Bop” by the Ramones is the greatest song ever. Heck, any song by the Ramones is automatically the greatest song ever. “I Get Around” by the Beach Boys is faster and rocks harder than most punk songs, though (and no, I’m not being sarcastic, I’m dead serious)…

‘Goodnight Irene’ is just perfect in every way.

‘Sometimes I live in the country,
Sometimes I live in town,
Sometimes I have a great notion;
Jumpin’ in into the river and drown’

Billie Jean, Michael Jackson, Album: Thriller.

The first album I got, when I was five, I begged for Thriller and my grandma finally got it for me.

Still one of my favorites but the tape is worn out so I got it on mp3.

I like every songs from musical THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA and CATS and EVITA

That’s sounds great!

I would listen them before bed every day

No offense, but I can think of a few better ways to spend my time before going to sleep…such as making out with a loaded sawed-off shotgun.
