What's your political alignment?
Economic Left/Right: -4.50
Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.77

I am definitely in the left and definitely more of a libertarian, but in that happy medium right in the smack of both.

Funnily enough, I’ve read a few of the books on the reading list suggestion for left-leaning libertarians.
So which came first, those books or your political views?

 1. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (100%)
 2. Liberal Quakers (94%)
 3. Unitarian Universalism (82%)
 4. Reform Judaism (69%)
 5. Bah??Faith (68%)
 6. Neo-Pagan (63%)
 7. New Age (57%)
 8. Orthodox Quaker (55%)
 9. Secular Humanism (55%)
 10. Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant (48%)
 11. Theravada Buddhism (48%)
 12. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) (48%)
 13. Taoism (46%)
 14. Christian Science (Church of Christ, Scientist) (45%)
 15. New Thought (45%)
 16. Mahayana Buddhism (43%)
 17. Sikhism (42%)
 18. Jehovah’s Witness (37%)
 19. Nontheist (35%)
 20. Seventh Day Adventist (35%)
 21. Orthodox Judaism (34%)
 22. Scientology (32%)
 23. Eastern Orthodox (28%)
 24. Islam (28%)
 25. Roman Catholic (28%)
 26. Jainism (26%)
 27. Hinduism (16%)

And at 57% I’m a Spiritual Straddler which is a bit odd since I don’t believe in organized religion. Islam being near the bottom of my list makes sense. I think the questions about traditions, rituals, and the roles of men and women put it there since that’s the main reason why I quit that religion.

My political views came first. I didn’t really start reading politics until I started college, but my upbringing and personal experiences formed my views long before I began reading the books on the list.
Cheers.

BEWARE MY WRATH!

just one grid south of gandhi.

This site www.politicalcompass.org
has an interesting 2 axis chart for plotting the political spectrum.
Left (controlled economy) and Right (free-market)
vs Authoritarian and Libertarian.
There is a test you take that will place your position on the graph.
Given recent elections and political debates in this forum section, I thought that I’d give this link and suggest you all have a look at it.
At the very least it will add some more fuel to various fires.

There are also country specific sections that analyse the political parties in Germany, Canada, the US, the UK and NZ, all well worth looking at.

My result was -7.00, -4.82. You will need to take the test yourself before you know what that means.

Aren’t you in the wrong forum? Shouldn’t you be in the OPEN forum. By the way, what’s your favorite color? favorite pizza topping? favorite animal? What do you think that says about your religious views? attitudes toward marriage and family? or predicts about your success in the future?

Be sure and link. I am really, really interested.

FS makes another relatively new poster feel welcome. :unamused:

Well at least that is amusing though I doubt its relevance haha. By the way, what’s your sign and does that in any way affect what you are writing to me today. I CARE. I really do. Please SHARE. haha

Exactly what I was thinking. :unamused:

You do? I mean the action of the verb not what it might entail. haha

Remotely.

Economic Left / Right… 3.13

Social Libertarian / Authoritarian… -2.15

Don’t mind me… I’m just a confused Northern Irishman…
