When will be the next 10,000NTD stimulus?

I don’t think the average salaries for most Taiwanese or most expats in Taiwan is going to be 100,000 NTD per month

We have some (nonscientific) data points on this topic! Data posted mostly around 2020, so in most cases likely higher now:

Guy

For Ex Pat’s yes, $1.5 million+ (higher now though), for Taiwanese, I saw about $80,000 per month. I will say if my company offered $1.5 million+, they would not get anyone to transfer here (Tainan) from Texas.

For Taiwanese, which you posted first, definitely no.

For non-Taiwanese, if you define expats as only white collar workers on expatriate packages from Western countries, ok maybe. But when you add English teachers and others in white collar jobs, including from Asian countries, then no. If you include blue collar migrant workers (who now have the option to stay in Taiwan longer than 12 years), then definitely no.

This was definitely wrong, though. I’m sure you know what your salary is, maybe you know about your company.

Reminds of when Bojack said he’d rather pay out of pocket than suck on the socialist teat that is the NHI.

Yeah well he lied

Terrible word salad , I’m embarrassed for you.

‘The average varies widely’ …F grade for that.

There’s no general salary that anybody is getting. Wtf does that mean ?

And incomes are NOT on a normal distribution. They don’t have a normal distribution anywhere in the world.

That’s not how it works.

If somebody is going to use AI to try to do their thinking for them, best do some thinking first.

In other words, typical libertarian BS in which the much valued “individual” constantly uses all manner of public resources and enjoys the benefits of living in a civilized society while claiming that it’s all about individual effort and disparaging public funding for the very things that allow them to live in a civilized society.

Guy

Well, the AI wording may be hard to read for some.

But I do think around TWD 1,550,000 is a “OK” number for ExPat salaries in Taiwan. Some pay lower, many pay much higher. And it’s low compared to the home country of many expats, so at times hard to get people to come to Taiwan at a salary less than 1.5 million, when, for example, in Texas, it can double that (US$100,000). Some Taiwan companies pay way less to try to get expats to come; they get lower-level staffing, it seems to me. (Many good expats here, but some seem like losers to me, more than Singapore, Japan or Paris, where I was for a moderate-term assignment )

What’s your definition of an expat loser ? I hope it’s better than just spitballing a number and saying anything above that is a good guy or gal lol.

And now you know how incomes work , they aren’t on a normal distribution, so you’ve been better educated. You’re welcome and I definitely don’t look down on you for not knowing that because it does take a little bit of time , effort and independent research to know that. I didnt expect you to be able to do that.

Besides there’s a whole salary database on here you could have searched and looked at to back up any of your assertions. Again that would have taken just a little effort on your part.
But I didn’t expect that to happen because you just want to make your own arbitrary assertions first. And you’re lazy right. So AI told you…

But let me guess, you earn more than 1.5 million ntd/yr, am I rite ? :joy::joy::joy:

Now what happens if you lose your job and your next job is below 1.5 million ntd/yr, you’re in the loser club or what ?

If you’re 30+ and earning under six figures USD as an ‘expat’, it’s a red flag. It usually means you couldn’t compete back home, so you moved somewhere easier.

At 30+ you should be able to clear $100,000usd both home or abroad.

Are ‘expat’ only Americans people? What a bullshit take.

I do make more than the so-called average, but would not have come if it were not the case.

As far as what is a loser, part based on salary, but mostly its they could not a get decent job/ or the same job at home (where they came from) but working overseas because of it.

I am not the only one, from other posts, such as

I also know many do a great job, work hard, or are here for reasons other than salary, so each person is really different depending on their life story.

If you do know that, it’s better you don’t spread negative things about the generally hard working and very small community of white collar foreign residents working in Taiwan.
Calling people losers because they work in another country is a very strange thing if you think about it.

A loser is somebody that works every day to get ahead , save some money , to learn a new culture and language, have a new adventure and spreads their wings and face new challenges ?

Why is that a loser ? How the fuck is that a loser ?

That’s a striver, a winner…not a loser.

Expat’ isn’t about being American. It’s usually used for people from wealthier countries working temporarily in less wealthy ones.

People going the other way are typically called migrant workers, and if you’re settling long-term, you’re an immigrant.

So yes, $100k USD is a pretty reasonable benchmark for a professional ‘expat’ role. If you’re relocating internationally, it should reflect your experience and the ability to compete in your home market, not a massive step down because the cost of living is lower… (in many cases it isn’t.)

Earning less than someone your age should isn’t the issue, the way you’re trying to spin it as “winning” is.

Funny how these things work.

Aaannnd, what happens to be your age and income range comfy? Ha.

Less than 30, clearing over $100k USD. That answer your question?

Does that refer to the salaries of persons formerly known as “Pat”? :upside_down_face:
