Where can I get grain for brewing beer?

As the title suggests. Anyone know of a good source either in the country or a decently priced exporter?

You presumably want malted barley. What quantities are you looking at, homebrew or microbrewery? And are you sure you’re ready to do the mashing yourself, or would you consider the easier use of extracts (which most homebrewers use)?

A friend put me on to this place a few days ago. It’s all in chinese but it seems they pretty much have everything you need to brew. They also have a facebook page.

I haven’t had a chance to buy anything, but it will be nice to not have to have things sent from back home. Good luck!

Yeah. Specifically: 2-Row Malted Barley, Chrystal Malts, Caramel malts and a Munich malt.

I’m doing homebrew. We’re doing everything from scratch. We got a welder to put together a decent set up that can put out about 60L at a time. We got a lot of the equipment from http://www.morebeer.com. The only thing we’ve had trouble getting for a decent price is the grain. My deep freezer is full of leaf hops imported from the US. I’m itching to get started. I’ve actually never brewed before but my friend is a brewmaster from the States so I’m going to apprentice under him.

Fantastic the bayou! Exactly what I was looking for. They don’t have exactly what we want but I’m gonna go in and talk with him and try and see what he can do. Thanks a lot mate. I’ll post after I talk to that supplier and share whatever info. he provides.

Excellent! :lick: Have fun with it!

malt your own grain?

cheaper that way, but you’ll need a spare floor and a malting shovel.

thebayou, Thanks a whole bunch. I was running short of malt extract and it’s good to know I can source it here.

I was thinking about starting up my all grain addiction again but thought I couldn’t find anyone that has stuff to help me going. My wife(Taiwanese) found a husband and wife team from California that is running a home brew supply in Taichung. They are called DIY Beer Supply. I am on their Facebook page and have bought some stuff last week. They even had wort chillers… could beleive someone actually had copper pipe in Taiwan… ha ha. They had hops, grain, hydrometers, airlocks and bottle fillers. They speak both Mandarin and English. They are small but they have a lot of stuff that is hard to find in Taiwan. Look them up on Facebook.

Sorry to drag up an older post folks, but I’ve never homebrewed and I’m really interested in giving it a bash - is there anyone in the Taoyuan/Taipei area who might be willing to impart some knowledge?
