Dear jpryst,
I’m not sure if the puppet show you mean is the traditional Taiwanese puppet shows which even have TV programs and are famous for their computer effects and dubbing into Taiwanese language.
If that’s what you want, it rarely to see this kind of live show nowadays. Actually, it was performed before whenever temples had some special events. You still can find it, but hard.
There’d be one for free in Taoyuan County Government, Department of Cultural Affairs on 2010/4/24.
