I’m looking into getting a NDS, and wondering if anyone knows where I can get a R4 chip thing for it, and estimated cost?
My friend bought one somewhere on the top floor of “K-Mall” he paid about $1000 for it.
“taipei city mall” underground behind taipei station too. besides the ~$900 for r4 you will need to buy a flash memory card which will be about same depending if you get 1kb or 2kb. i have feeling if you ask any mom and pop video game store you could get one too but never checked.
With 2kb you can put 1/128th of a game on it!

The MicroSD card you’ll need to buy doesn’t cost anywhere near the same as the R4!
They’ve really dropped in price.
1G can be bought for about 350, 2G for 650.
Get yourself a Kingston and make sure it’s Japanese, not Taiwanese.
There is a big difference.
The computer market is the best and cheapest place.
You can also find the R4 card there.
Also after you buy search the interwebs for the firmware to flash it into English.

Is there a difference between the ds lites as well?
sorry should clarify a bit more. I’m buying a ds lite from rt mart tomorrow and it’s first handheld since my original gameboy. Are all ds lites the same here? What else should I buy along with it? I need a supercard or something like that for reading ebooks on it. any recommendations?
All the DS lites are the same, just pick the color you want. I would buy the R4 for those “special” games you want to play.
