I’m a guy from the states who moved to Taiwan about an year ago and plan to stay here indefinitely. I have met and befriended the local girls here but I still prefer dating western ladies whom I relate to. So far, I could never find any western girls in Taipei who go out . In all the language events and bars I’ve been to, there are only 1 or none, while guys are plentiful. And yet I see many ladies at the universities in Taipei. Do they not go out or socialize, or do I not know any spots where they usually go to meet people? Tinder and dating apps are not an option. I prefer real life, real connections.
It’s not unusual.
@Brianjones Can you help out your nephew, cousin or brother?
Facebook groups for foreigners in Taipei with cultural and outdoor activities that women enjoy. .Meetup.com. Join Chinese language classes and look to network.
These might be good bets for you.
They’re too busy dying their hair purple and studying for that Post-Colonial or Gender studies exam!
I already went to all these that you mentioned (except outdoor non-bar) since the last year but there were either 1 or none of them. I think outdoor activities like hiking is the one I should go for. Someone suggested me about church but I’m an atheist.
I did meet a Brit student one time and she had cyan blue hair…but really loved everything about her
Also Southern Pingtung, more Euros , tourists and residents (some from KHH/Fongshan where some cafes have hangouts)
The solution is right there in front of you. Sign up for a Chinese language class at university. When I lived in Tainan, all the hot foreign girls hung out at NCKU.
Taiwanese girls are like the best thing about Taiwan. The mind boggles that you want to stay here indefinitely but don’t want to date the locals.
You have a lot of conditions. Dating apps can be frustrating but they do represent another option which you’re closing off. I met my wife on Tinder; we’ve been together a decade. I know a lot of people who have met their significant others on dating apps as well. It’s your call but it’d help you narrow down your search for your ideal Aryan—- er… Westerner.
They are either at home in the west complaining about all the guys that keep moving to Asia, or alternatively they are in Asia busy dating the local girls/guys too.
I guess it is really disappointing when you can get a nice steak in a vegan restaurant ![]()
Haha no… they don’t miss us. They either think we’re losers and would rather date vapid Wall Street bros, or they’ve been so brainwashed by woke culture they don’t think they need a man at all.
you might be right about the Chinese classes events. But they are usually once a month, so I strive to go there. But University Chinese classes aren’t an option because I’m not a student anymore. Is it possible for me to sign up for Chinese classes in University as a outsider. Also, the fee might be to expensive for a whole semester. NTNU is 30000 a semester for Mandarin course.
I think the majority of Western women who reside in Taiwan would prefer an Asian or Taiwanese man if they were to stay there permanently.
Try again so it makes sense.
You’re right, I wrote without thinking what I wanted to write and I didn’t even review it.
I’m sorry, but dating apps are less efficient in building connections. I have used it and I only found a very few uninterested women compared to the very few ones I met in real life, I also want to have friends to hangout with and not exclusively for hooking up or dating.
I’ve heard of this trend as well, also heard that Taiwanese are either afraid to date Western women or they just extremely love their cute Taiwanese girls. Interested Western women actually have to compete aggressively in Taiwan. I’ve seen western straight up ignore their male counterparts in Taiwan and talk to locals more
From what I’ve seen, most of the Western girls in Taiwan, especially the ones in Taipei… tend to fall into that hyper-woke, activist crowd. Always angry about something, always looking for a cause to yell about. Not exactly the type you’d grab a beer with and have a normal conversation, let alone date. They don’t really give off “relationship material” vibes, more like they’re here to lecture the locals and collect Instagram/TikTok stories. Probably why you’re not seeing them out and about in the usual social scenes.
Yes! So tru
